Here’s How To Get A Chevy Silverado Regular Cab With The New Interior

General Motors introduced the refreshed fourth-generation Chevy Silverado 1500 for the 2022.5 model year, debuting a variety of updates and changes, including new styling, powertrain enhancements, and a new interior as well, complete with larger displays, better materials, and more. Unfortunately, the refreshed Silverado 1500 interior is only available on LT trim levels and above, which means Regular Cab customers are left out in the cold, with Regular Cab configurations only offered on the base-model WT trim level, which does not include the refreshed interior. However, there is a workaround of sorts to get a newer interior on a Regular Cab Silverado.

Basically, it boils down to this – GM only offers the Chevy Silverado 1500 Regular Cab body style for the WT trim level, with two bed sizes to go with it (Long Bed or Standard Bed).

So what to do if you want a Regular Cab Silverado with a refreshed interior? Step up to the Silverado HD.

As it just so happens, the Chevy Silverado HD was refreshed 2024 model year, with Regular Cab body configurations available for either WT or LT trim levels. As such, customers who opt for a 2024 Silverado HD LT Regular Cab will be able to enjoy both the two-door body style, plus the refreshed interior.

Another workaround would be to step up to the Silverado 3500 HD Chassis Cab in the LT trim level, which also pairs a two-door body with the refreshed interior. Of course, the Chassis Cab models also lack a bed, but the refreshed interior remains all the same.

Inside the refreshed Silverado 1500 interior, you’ll find a new 13.4-inch color touchscreen and 12.3-inch configurable instrument cluster, as well as a new layout for the controls and larger screens. The refreshed interior in the latest Chevy Silverado HD is practically identical, with the same dash, button layout, and screens, including that 13.4-inch infotainment screen and 12.3-inch driver information center.

While upgrading to the Silverado HD just to get the two-door body and refreshed interior might seem like a stretch to some, for those customers that must have those features, it’s good to know that it’s an option.

  1. The regular cab, shortbed is my all-time favorite pickup truck bodystyle, and GM knew there was a cult following for these, because right before they pulled the rug out, they packaged their 2018 regular cab shortbeds in a loaded configuration only, therefore milking those customers for their last penny, billing it as a “last chance”.

Seems really odd to me you can buy an uplevel, regular cab, shortbed gm half ton in Mexico and the Middle East, but not here in the USA.

Thanks for recognizing the regular cab customer still exists!

    1. I have waited four years to buy a loaded regular cab short box 1500 4*8 or 5*3, just like the one have now. Also 3.73 rear Want to sit proud, not on the floor. ALLAMERICANALI!

… a logistics mess on the assembly line?

Wonder how many trucks roll out of the plant with the wrong interior.

    1. Thanks to everything being serialized, none. Your more likely to cause the entire plant to shut down by swapping in the wrong part than to have a miss configuration come out the plant.

  3. The hell with the refreshed interior, GM. Return the 5.3 V8 to the shortbed ! Makes absolutely zero sense to offer it in the single cab 8′ bed, but not the 6.5′ bed. Don’t care a lick about how torquey the 4 cyl is, so don’t try to convince me.

    1. Wouldn’t you really like the thrill of driving a Silverado with half of an engine (4 cylinder) and attempting to blend into traffic on the Interstate in front of an 18-wheeler going the speed limit ? It makes your heart skip a beat.
The tiny 4 cylinder in the large (overweight) Silverado has plenty of power . . . . if you only go back and forth to the grocery.

  4. I want a regular cab half ton with a 3.0 diesel. Why not? Why can’t I get a regular cab LT trim?? I couldn’t care less about the interior/ infotainment system. I want chrome trim and engine options.

    1. I want the same thing and maybe a better sound system. My 2020 Silverado regular cab long bed with the 4.3L is fine. I won’t have the 4 cylinder that overworks itself. Although I really want to order a brand new one I don’t want the 5.3L failures I hear about and have friends who has been going through this nightmare. The WT trim is fine to me. Bring back a standard transmission while you are at it.

  5. Since the Camaro is gone, how about a regular cab short bed with a 6.2 V8. Not everyone wanted to sit on the ground anyway. A ZL1 Silverado would do the trick!

  6. Last week got a compliment on my rcsb. I believe the WT in Mexico comes with a V8 ONLY? Would like to see a Factory Sport model with ZQ8.

  7. It’s all about keeping a simplified V8 in a GM 1/2 Ton Short Box. Therefore I will keep my 2016 Chevrolet Silverado Short Box WT 5.3L 4X4 Black Out Edition until GM returns to the party.
GM: In my opinion, you have this all wrong over your limited engine choices for GM 1500s’ and as well, GM Colorados & Canyons.
    Thanks for hearing me.
Cheers and wish you ‘All’ well for 2024.

  9. People want a 2 door short or regular bed with new interior and a V8 or diesel engine get it together gm no one wants a 2 door long bed unless its for work. That said maybe a 2 door zr2 or trail boss would be a huge seller considering Fords XLT comes in 2 door short bed configuration and people usually go for the rwd ones. Someone write this down! You could always hire me to tell you what the buyers want just an idea

    1. Regular cab short-bed or long bed for me please. Turbo 4-cyl or V8. I’d be happy with either, but please bring back the clutch pedal! 1-2-3 trucks* are what I love.

Offer a SS version with a tweaked and tuned 6.2L and a LT4 engine optional. Offer a off road version LT Trail Boss with all the off road goodies, suspension, 35″ wheels and tires, lighting etc. In addition to the standard engine options also offer a Bison version with a option for the LT4.

  11. So are they making a regular cab short bed 6.6 diesel or if not can they

  12. That’s not really a work-around when you’re not getting the same truck. From everything I’ve read on this Forum about the 1500s, including what people would like to see on them, I’ll stick with my 2500HDs. My first was a ’95 Cheyenne, then ’07 and ’20 Silverados, all with extended cabs and long beds.

Why can’t you get those regular cab trucks and V8 engines like you used to be able to?
    Emissions laws.
Yes, the footprint of the truck is calculated in the emissions rules.

    1. You say it’s on account of emissions that the 2024 Silverado shortbed has to come with a 4 cylinder engine ? Challenge you to back that up with some cold hard facts . No conjecture.

      Reply
      1. Smaller engines have less emissions. Even if the fuel economy and power aren’t any different, they are going to reduce the number of larger engines to help meet those requirements. It’s the same reason the 2 door regular bed Ram isn’t available anymore.
This isn’t some secret. There have been all kinds of articles about it on other car sites.

And if you want the hard facts, you can read the laws yourself about the changes made a couple of years ago.

      2. Frank, Nate is correct. There’s some recent dumb emissions-related rules that makes it tough for a single cab, short bed type configuration to exist in the US. Ford is getting away with the 5.0 V8 single cab, short bed by incorporating a gasoline particulate filter (think like DPF on diesels) for 2024+ models.

        Reply
        1. Yes, Ford still makes a V-8 short bed. They also sell more trucks than Chevy which is telling. So, they found away around it as you indicated in order to please their customer base. And they all have the same emissions hurdles. Conventional wisdom tells that GM just doesn’t give a s— about their customer base.

  16. Come onn GM. We just wanted regular cab short box 5.3 v8 truck, don’t see this too much for us. Do we need to apologize for not being Middle Eastern?

  17. Single cab AT4 is fire asf! I wish GM would sell them in the USA

  18. If Ford can do it, its doable by GM also. If the emissions related rules get tough then GM needs to step up and reconfigure the chassis and body and make it happen like Ford did.

  19. Allow the same engine choices for the regular cab in the 1500 as the expensive high end versions and bring back the manual transmission. My 2020 is great except for the 6 speed automatic. It has the 4.3 which never has lifter issues. You are loosing me not that you car GM

  20. I don’t get it if GM can make the Silverado HD available as a two door regular cab with the new interior then why not offer the 1500 with the new interior and a regular cab? It seems to me like a way to up charge customers for what they want because everyone knows an Silverado HD costs more then a 1500! What. Joke GREEDY CORPORATE SCUM! This is wrong!
