The 2024 Chevy Camaro offered several special packages to mark the departure of the sixth-generation sports car, including the Collector Edition package, which is available on every trim level and adds specific aesthetic enhancements depending on the trim level selected. Previously, it was uncertain how many units of the 2024 Chevy Camaro Collector Edition would be built, with GM Authority sources indicating roughly 2,000 were slated for production. Now, it looks as though GM ended up building a total of 1,335 units.
In a recent video, Camaro enthusiast YouTube channel The Camaro Cave provides a breakdown of exactly how many 2024 Chevy Camaro Collector Edition units were built, even detailing the build quantity for each body style and trim level. The Camaro Cave states that these numbers were provided by the GM Archives.
The numbers breakdown as follows:
- Camaro Coupe 1LT – 21 units
- Camaro Coupe 2LT – 14 units
- Camaro Coupe 3LT – 189 units
- Camaro Coupe LT1 – 17 units
- Camaro Coupe 1SS – 8 units
- Camaro Coupe 2SS – 405 units
- Camaro Coupe ZL1 – 274 Units
- Camaro Convertible 1LT – 8 units
- Camaro Convertible 2LT – 13 units
- Camaro Convertible 3LT – 147 units
- Camaro Convertible LT1 – 4 units
- Camaro Convertible 1SS – 1 unit
- Camaro Convertible 2SS – 158 Units
- Camaro Convertible ZL1 – 76 units
Adding it all up, we find that GM produced a total of 1,335 units of the 2024 Chevy Camaro Collector Edition.
Production of the 2024 Chevy Camaro kicked off at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in August of 2023, with the final example of the sixth-gen Camaro rolling off the line on December 14th, 2023.
Looking ahead, it’s uncertain where the Camaro nameplate is headed next, although GM has confirmed that a next-gen model is indeed in the works. It’s likely the next-gen Camaro will adopt an all-electric powertrain. GM Authority has asked if GM even needs a next-gen Camaro, sparking a good deal of conversation around the topic.

So they probably didn’t even built sold customer orders? In a hurry to convert factory to build electric models most people don’t seem to want at this time.
I had 2 Camaros on order that did not get built. Had a 2SS 1LE as a back up to my ZL1. Once I realized that most likely neither would be built and them raising the price $4K with no new content I decided to order a C8. Luckily I did because if I had not I would have not had any vehicle. I ordered the Camaros in May and ordered the C8 in August. Got that car the first week of December. It boggles my mind that they would leave that much money on the table and send out a legendary nameplate like that. To put the Camaro name on an EV piece of crap is a travesty.
As far as I know ordering for the Collectors edition did not open until June 14th your dealer could not have put an order in before that date. Some dealerships didn’t have a clue how to order the car or it did not appear on their website to order. I ordered my car on 7th from Hendricks Motor sports in Cary, on the same day I went to Capitol Chevrolet in Raleigh which is a high volume dealership and sat there for 40 minutes and no one could figure out how to order the car. As I waited for my order to get picked up which it did on 11/20 by that time I found another one but it was automatic with a sunroof but everything else was the same. The dealership where I found the car was 100 miles away, the salesman called me 3 days before the car got to the dealership, I called GM to see if my original order had been picked up and they said yes call your dealership and they will have the latest’s information. I called my salesman and he said no my order had not been picked up, so I bought the other car, the very next day the salesman for the original said my car had been picked up and TPW was 11/20. When i picked up my car I ordered the red interior but the steering wheel had white stitching on it, it was suppose to be red. I contacted GM and they did noting about. The car was suppose to have black door spears, it does not. Although I love the car GM crapped on this car and the people who bought them, I contacted GM several times and they replied with no resolution to anything I enquired about.
Carl, I hate that you had issues with your order and subsequent issues with the car concerning quality/warranty. You are not alone! It took 18 months from order date to delivery of my 22 SS Convertible, with 4 months of that time the car sitting in a rail yard in Michigan. The whole time GM was zero help as to when/if it would be built, then the same thing with delivery, no clue where it was or when it would arrive at the dealer. I even drove a comparably equipped 23 SS convertible at Hendrick in Cary 2 weeks before my 22 reached my local dealer. After delivery, I’ve had several warranty/quality issues, the dealer has been great, GM has fixed some warranty issues to my satisfaction, but their are a few issues that they will not fix, all because, like you said “GM crapped on on this car” and they do not want to spend anymore money fixing issues that impact all Camaros.
I too absolutely love my manual Camaro and get compliments on it all the time, it’s a shame GM doesn’t care about this car!
Crazy right
I can confirm that my LT1 6 speed Convertible never got built……..Ordered in early August……order never picked up by GM. Would be interesting to know how many sold orders were ignored.
How many of these have already/will be resold at auctions?
How many potential orders did gm ignore, since some people couldn’t place a order?
Don’t care.
Why did gm bother with ’24? Just extend ’23 till parts used up? Mary was in a big hurry.
They could and did charge more for a ’23 than a ’24!
I also had ordered a 2SS manual coupe on August 24. The dealer claims my order was never picked up by GM. In reading comments from others seems to be very likely as others are saying the same. Apparently GM couldn’t care less about their loyal customers. All I have ever bought in my life were GM cars (Pontiac and Chevy). I ended up buying a new Dodge Challenger. Goodbye GM you lost a lifetime customer.
“Camaro Convertible 1SS – 1 unit”
That’s the one ya want.
I saw one of the 76 ZL1’s in the wild! Gorgeous car! That’s gonna be a collector for sure!
I would have liked to had a 2024 ZL1 , but didn’t want to run the chance of what has been said above. I was able to order a 2023 ZL1 early in 2023. I took delivery in April . I have 104 miles on it. Hope to get it out this spring when the salt is off of our roads. I feel fortunate, Vivid Orange , black trim . We get a lot of positive comments on the car. Thank you Mike H.
In Sept, when GM announced they would push back end of production on the ’24s to Dec, that was the handwriting on the wall. I knew that, even if my dealer got an allotment, there was no guarantee that I’d get the car. I checked Chevy inventory for ’23s and found one in MI. It had most of what I wanted and no deal breakers. I bought it, sight unseen, and they transported it to me in VA in mid Oct. The day after I started the purchasing process, my dealer called to tell me they had gotten an allotment and the 3 people ahead of me had passed on it. I passed on it too because the ’23 was a sure thing and a ’24 was too iffy. I love my ’23 3LT RS Coupe in Vivid Orange!! 🙂 No regrets. Once in VA, I had my dealer install the Illuminated Bow Tie on the front. It cost a lot more than if it were done by the factory, but what the heck. Amortized over the life of my ownership, it’s no big deal. When I took it in for this, the car had 112 miles on it after 2 weeks. When the service guy saw that, he said, “Well, you’ve sure driven the hell outa this car!” lol
Just to give you all a little insight into my experience with this…
I order my 2SS Panther on 6/29/23 and it did not get picked up until early October. It was a long waiting game and I actually was worried I would not make the cut. I got very lucky. Based on my review of several people’s comments here and in other sites, it sounds like it depended on the dealership and how early you got it in. My dealer was very experienced and also they do not add additional charge ups to their order prices on anything. I did see other dealers throughout the country trying to add on anywhere from $2500 to $10k in dealer markups which is just ridiculous.
Yeah I paid $2500 over
Carl ,
You just confirmed how fortunate I was . Supply and demand. I have done business with 3 different dealerships. I look around and when I’m ready then I contact my favorite ones. Most of the time I do everything over the phone or emails . Trading is a little more interesting. They always come through.
Glad you got what you wanted is the point in hand. Enjoy , if you get time search the internet for a new ZL1. I seen a Chevy dealership list there’s for $144,000. Crazy !
How do I find out what the production number is on my 2024 Panther Black Met 2SS Convertible ??
I’m not sure if it’s accurate or not. 405 units of the 2SS out of 1335 total units in the Collectors Edition.
Yeah that’s correct, I was wondering what number of the 405 do I have?
I contacted Chevy through IM and they were not very helpful. It does not sound like they track them that way, if the specific model wasn’t planned out for the individual numbers to be badged somewhere on the vehicle. The best they could do was give me my “sequence number” which was a six digit number.
Where did you source these production numbers? Impressive! Is it ppossible to fins out how many 2022 SS 1LE’s where made? Or even total 6th gen SS 1LE’s ?
Wow. That 1SS Convertible is the rarest only 1 in The World!!! Who ever owns it is Very fortunate, has a very Collectible car!
