General Motors unveiled the 2023 Corvette Z06 in October of the 2021 calendar year, bolstering the C8 Corvette lineup with a next-level performance machine powered by a new, naturally aspirated, flat-plane crank V8 engine. The first production-spec C8 Corvette Z06 rolled off the line in November of the 2022 calendar year. Now, GM Authority is taking a closer look at the number of 2023 Corvette Z06 units built, including a breakdown of the sales mix by trim level and body style.
In total, 6,413 units of the 2023 Corvette Z06 were built since November of 2022, including 3,109 Z06 Coupes and 3,304 Z06 Convertibles. A total of 53,785 C8 Corvettes were produced for the 2023 model year, which means Z06 variants accounted for just under 12 percent of total 2023 Corvette production.
Most customers opted for the range-topping 3LZ trim level, with Corvette Z06 3LZ models accounting for 75.4 percent of 2023 Z06 Coupe production and 88 percent of 2023 Z06 Convertible production. The mid-range 2LZ trim level accounted for 18.1 percent of 2023 Z06 Coupe production and 10.6 percent of 2023 Z06 Convertible production, while the 1LZ trim level accounted for 6.5 percent of 2023 Z06 Coupe production and just 1.4 percent of 2023 Z06 Convertible production.

It should be noted that the 2023 Corvette Z06 faced a number of production constraints, as GM Authority has covered at length. Back in 2022, C8 Z06 production was constrained at just 10 percent of accepted orders due to a plant restriction. The sports car’s carbon aero packages also faced a heavy constraint.
As a reminder, the 2023 Corvette Z06 features the naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 gasoline engine, which is rated at 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The GM Y2 platform provides the underpinnings, while production takes place exclusively at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.

Take rate for the convertible on the Z06 is surprisingly high. Over 50%
I noticed that, too. Higher than the coupe was interesting. I mean, I get it: If you can’t feel the wind rushing through your hair, what’s the point of having a head?
Ridiculous that only 3100 were built! There were over 5000 reservations at Ciocca Corvette alone on the day reservations opened up!
Again, incompetent GM management not building capacity to meet demand.
The worst handling of a vehicles production within GM was by far the Camaro. While their incompetency led to me now owning a 24 C8 Z51 it was unbelievable how much money they left on the table. I had a Camaro 2SS1LE and a ZL1 on order before the 24 order books opened in March of 23. The ZL1 was my primary but I had heard the issues with allotments so I ordered the 2SS1LE as my back up. As the 24 builds started it became clear that there was no rhyme or reason as to how they were building them. That coupled with a $4K increase in the ZL1’s price with no increase in content I decided to spec a C8 which I had not done previously. I was pleasantly surprised when I realized how close in price to my now $80K (was $75K and change) ZL1 I decided to order that in August. I was built Nov 22 and delivered to my house DEC 7. Neither one of the Camaros I ordered ever got built. Yet my dealer got a random 24 ZL1 that they had not ordered just because. Makes 0 sense why you wouldn’t build the higher profit vehicles like this case with the Z06s. The number that would be interesting to see is how many of those vehicles were just dealer inventory orders vs customer orders. In the case of the Camaro why would they build a bunch of dealer inventory V6 models over customer ordered SSs and ZL1s. I have always loved GM but this one really made my head spin.
Worst product launch ever.
GM cancelled my zo6 order after 2 years.
I am sure this is all done, on purpose. This way , they can say , no negotiations on price. You want it , you pay the asking price , if not , we can sell it to anyone we want and for maybe more. This is not just GM, it is happening on most car companies and lots of other categories of goods. It happened to me , when buying my C8 . Covid screwed things up really good and the fact that gen Z, do not want to work , with their hands , does make for lack of laborer’s !
Supply equalling demand is intentionally ignored in this particular instance of very carefully marketing the image of exclusivity for this vehicle. And it worked beautifully.
You mean lost sales is a good thing? Or are you saying that maximizing profits at the expense of potential buyers is a good thing? Which is it?
You must have also ignored the article. The “exclusivity” was due to mismanaged supply chains, not marketing.
Would love to buy a Z06 but in Canada that entails $57,000 in sales and luxury taxes. Thanks to Liberal voters and their chimp
Real Truth
Just wondered if you ever thought of ordering your car in a Province that only charges a 5% sales tax.
Consider the poor Province of Alberta where the people can’t afford a provincial sales tax only the Federal tax of 5%.
I’m very fortunate to get my 2023 3LZ Z06/Z07 Red Mist coupe with Exposed CF aero, Exposed CF wheels, and CF roof. Amazing car.
Waiting to see what the ZR1 ends up being. Unfortunately I can’t afford both, will have to sell the Z06 to get the ZL1. 😢. Tuff call.
I’ll buy your Z06!
Seriously. It’s the car I would build
Looks like GMC cargo vans were more popular even though they quit building them. Whaaa?
Todd, I will let you know as soon as I know more about the ZR1. ZO6 has 972 mi and is in storage for the winter. Thank you.
How many ZO6 where built with ZO7?
The best I can tell 1,567 ZO6s were ZO7s. 1,271 regular ZO7s and 269 Anniv. Edit.
I could be off a little because I understand there some unfinished cars waiting for parts. Probably high winds, not sure if they were included in these numbers, but I think they were.
On my window sticker it is called the ZO6 Ultimate Performance Package, $8,995.00, which includes the ZO7 Suspension.
Thank you Rick!
It’s a. Sad day in Dearborn when mustang sales fall short of Corvette. The gt350 only managed 1/2 the units and it wasn’t that good of a car.
