Positioned as the ultimate go-anywhere all-electric super truck, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup boasts a wide range of all-terrain capabilities not often seen in other electric vehicles. However, that’s not to say the Hummer EVÂ is infallible, as one owner found out after parking his electric truck on rain-soaked grass.
In a series of videos posted to social media, we find a GMC Hummer EV Pickup that has gotten thoroughly stuck after a massive rain storm. The owner tried to get his all-electric super truck out of its own accord, but to no avail. Eventually, a tow truck was called to pull the Hummer EV free.
Of course, one may wonder why the owner parked his Hummer EV Pickup, or any vehicle for that matter, on the grass with an impending thunderstorm in the first place. In addition, it’s worth noting that this particular all-electric truck is due for a SEMA 2024 build.

As a reminder, the current 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup is highlighted by the introduction of the 2 and 2X trim levels, which include a bevy of features and technologies, including GM Ultium battery tech. Slotting below the 3X trim level, the 2 and 2X trims are both equipped with a two-motor powertrain rated at 570 horsepower, with one GM Ultium Drive motor mounted on the front axle, and a second motor mounted on the rear axle.
Another noteworthy update for the 2024 model year is the introduction of the Omega Edition. This new limited-run variant features a unique matte paint finish, special wheels, and a few noteworthy pieces.

In regard to structure, both variants of the GMC Hummer EV – which include the Hummer EV Pickup and Hummer EV SUV – ride on the wide-body variant of the GM BT1 platform, while production takes place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan.

These things are FAR too heavy.
With that whopping 9,000 lbs of weight, I would be afraid to take it into an aging parking garage for fear of it falling right through the floor.
That’s a real concern, applicable to EV’s across the board, not just Hummer. The Code-prescribed design loads for parking garages didn’t anticipate 6,000+ pound vehicles filling every spot. Of course, the electrical grid didn’t anticipate the power demand, either.
My 3500lb jeep wrangler definitely wouldn’t have buried it’s self in a rain soaked yard that’s for sure.
I’ve owned numerous Jeeps since the 1980’s. They actually work off-road. Heck, prior to owning any Jeeps, I owned a 1971 International Scout 800. It would never have gotten stuck in that yard either, guaranteed.
If you are dumb enough to park a vehicle north of 9000 pounds on a non solid surface you deserve an expensive tow bill.
This ev is gms poster child for their future bankruptcy. An overpriced, overweight pig of a vehicle. 6k for a pair of taillights? I passed a new Cadillac yesterday on the highway. Nice looking, overpriced, driving at least 10mph below the speed limit. Range anxiety perhaps? My colorado is the last gm product I will ever buy. I’ll never buy an ev. Garbage.
Rich Texan derp money right there.
LOL, who is surprised, don’t these things weigh about 5 tons? Did the batteries get wet?
Wouldn’t matter if they did.
EV Hummers are asphalt queens or mall marauders not mud machines, they are too heavy and don’t have the right tires for serious mud.
Isn’t this true for 90% of trucks in general?
Own fault… not the truck’s. If you have momentum you’ll get through this stuff
Fitted w/ a winch, this might not have happened.
Obviously some people have more money than brains!
Even a mud bath couldn’t do anything to make this EV Hummer pig with lipstick anymore appealing.
It’s absolutely the Trucks fault. If you think differently you’re a victim of ‘delusions of grandeur’ over evs. The things are way too heavy & way too deadly to others, and the drivers when the batteries go into thermal run away. Electricity isnt carbon neutral as it that even matters. CO2 is plant food in turn producing oxygen.
The Hummer obviously belonged to someone who bought it solely to impress people. Only a total poser would not have sense enough to know that you don’t park a 9000 pound vehicle on a rain soaked lawn in Suburbia.
