General Motors has released a Customer Satisfaction Program for a concerning noise coming from the rear of the vehicle, intended for select units of the 2021 to 2024 Chevy Blazer and Chevy Traverse.
Select 2021 to 2024 model-year Blazer and Traverse units may have a condition where some customers notice a humming, whining, or squealing type of noise coming from the rear of the vehicle while driving anywhere between 20 to 70 mph. Certified GM technicians are to insect affected vehicles, and perform a test drive in an effort to replicate the noise. If this is found to be the case, the techs are to replace the torque tube assembly, which should take a little less than four hours to complete.
There are a number of vehicles covered under this Customer Satisfaction Program, including:
- 2021 to 2023 GMC Acadia
- 2021 to 2024 Buick Enclave
- 2021 to 2024 Cadillac XT5
- 2021 to 2024 Cadillac XT6
- 2021 to 2024 Chevy Blazer
- 2021 to 2024 Chevy Traverse
It’s worth noting that the cause of this noise is likely a damaged bearing.
As a reminder, the Chevy Blazer is powered by either the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, or the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, rated at 308 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. The GM C1 platform provides the underpinnings, while production takes place at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico. Notably, the Blazer received a mid-cycle refresh for the 2023 model year.
Meanwhile, the Chevy Traverse is solely offered with the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. The GM C1 platform also lies under the skin, while production takes place at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan. Of course, the next-gen Traverse is set to enter production in February 2024.

Bad bearings … non-Union cheap supplier ?
Figures .
Probably from a low standards supplier, just like the door stops for the Blazer EVs and Equinox. Lower case gm back to old tricks again.
Can we talk about the crappy tires they put on the Blazers?
Does this apply to all of the vehicles noted, or is there somewhere to check a VIN to see if my vehicle could be one affected?
I’ve had a ’23 Blazer for a little over 10 months and I swear this happened once last week and hasn’t happened since.
“Certified GM technicians are to insect affected vehicles”…apparently they add insects? Lol
So how dangerous is this, or will the noise just be more noticeable over time to where they can no longer deny it?
But, a TSB about this case?
