Ford Super Duty Beats Chevy Silverado EV And Chevy Colorado For NACTOY Award

The Ford Super Duty has clinched the title of 2024 North American Truck of the Year (NACTOY), besting the Chevy Silverado EV and Chevy Colorado for the honor. The NACTOY award winner was announced during a presentation held earlier today, during which the 2024 North American Car of the Year award winner and 2024 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year award winner were also announced. The event was attended by various speakers, and highlighted the process by which winners were selected.

Award winners were selected by a jury of journalists from the U.S. and Canada, which rated and evaluated each vehicle in the pool of potential winners based on a variety of different criteria, including design, innovation, performance, safety, technology, user experience, driver satisfaction, and value. All-new and redesigned vehicles were eligible for the awards, with a series of elimination votes narrowing the potential pool down to roughly 30 semifinalists. The pool of semifinalists was announced at the recent Detroit Auto Show.

Semifinalists were then invited to a ride-and-drive event in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where jury members evaluated the vehicles over the course of a multi-day testing period. Among the 24 semifinalists for the NACTOY award, the Ford Super Duty, Chevy Silverado EV, and Chevy Colorado rose to the top, with the Ford Super Duty taking top honors. Accepting the 2024 NACTOY was Ford Super Duty chief engineer Andrew Kernahan.

As a reminder, the 2023 model year introduced an all-new third generation for the Chevy Colorado, debuting new exterior styling, an overhauled interior, and a variety of new technology features. Under the hood, the 2023 Chevy Colorado is equipped with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B and turbocharged 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine, depending on the trim level selected.

Meanwhile, the Chevy Silverado EV debuts an all-new, all-electric variant for the popular pickup nameplate, with GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motors providing motivation.

  1. What a joke.
The Silverado should have won. As of right now, it is by far the best Full size EV Pickup Truck.
We shall see what the Cybertruck is all about but the Silverado should have won.

    1. Maybe the fact that it weighs as much as the superduty, but can only haul 1/4 payload, tow 1/3 as much trailer weight, and has 1/2 the range to a full “tank”, plus refueling time is in the hours instead of minutes and yet still costs at least as much.
I think the Silverado EV is cool, but it’s a niche vehicle and not comparable to a modern diesel yet.

    2. It really doesn’t make any difference, if they going to actually compare them, then compare them to what is supposed to be there equal!

  2. Dog and pony show. Only “new” releases are taken into account. The Colorado is by far the best vehicle in terms of cost and usability. It doesn’t impress the “media elites” because it has no massaging seats, pano roof, or 120K price tag. 🤮

  3. Well guess I need to go read somewhere else what set the Ford apart and above the others – sure this is a GM site, but that’s a pretty blatant omission in journalism.

    1. Cyber truck laid an egg. Claimed 320 mile highway range actually in the 250’s.

But then Tesla always exaggerated the distance their cars can go.

  4. Cyber truck isn’t worth the cash(OVERPRICED)! As far as Colorado goes idk what type of usability you’re talking about??? 4 foot bed.. to do what? Too many yuppies buying trucks now, especially short bed mid size trucks with 4 foot beds and who cares if it goes off road…how many people actually drive off road??? Nice truck but is nice looking but GM left us guys who need the actual usable bed out when they designed it.

  5. To the person that commented about GM SELLING 300,000 electric vehicles last year. About 95% to the government, which we paid for anyway. The rest is mostly corporate sells, and only a few to actual consumers.
