When purchasing a luxury sedan like the Cadillac CT5, towing capabilities aren’t usually the first thing that crosses a buyer’s mind. Well, the CT5 is certainly capable of towing, and today, we’re taking a closer look at 2024 Cadillac CT5 towing capacities in the following GM Authority breakdown.
Before we get started, here’s the rundown on the CT5’s powertrain configurations. Engine options include the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, the twin-turbo 3.0L V6 LGY gasoline engine, rated at 335 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque (or 360 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque in the CT5-V), and the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, rated at 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque.
Transmission options consist of either the GM 10-speed automatic transmission or the Tremec six-speed manual transmission, while axle ratios stand at either 2.85 or 3.73.
With that covered, here’s the breakdown of 2024 Cadillac CT5 towing capacities:
2024 Cadillac CT5 Towing Capacities

CT5-V Blackwing with 10-speed automatic | RWD | - | - | - | - | 2.85 | 0 |
As seen above, the most a CT5 can pull is 1,000 pounds, while the performance-focused CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing variants are not rated for any towing activities.
It’s worth noting that the CT5 is not offered with an OEM tow hitch, as owners must find a compatible aftermarket setup. In addition, while the LSY engine can run on 87 octane fuel if premium fuel is unavailable, General Motors recommends that drivers use a minimum of 89 octane fuel or higher while towing. Failure to do so may result in engine damage, which wouldn’t be covered under warranty.
As a reminder, the CT5 is set to receive a mid-cycle refresh for the 2025 model year that will bring along updates to the exterior styling, interior appointments, and tech goodies.

If you want to tow something buy a Tahoe or Silverado.
Who writes this stuff ?
LOL, who in their right mind buys a classy Cadillac sedan and then bolts a trailer hitch on it?? That’s a very fast way to cut your resale value in half. Back in the day, the first thing a dealer did with a trade in was to cut the trailer hitch off. Used to see piles of them waiting for the scrap man.
Only a fool would consider a trailer hitch on a CT5 without a trailer towing option being checked on the order sheet.
Oh wait! There isn’t one. Here’s your sign….
