GM has issued a voluntary emissions recall for certain units of the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 and 2023 Chevy Colorado trucks that may be equipped with fuel injectors with incorrect fuel flow rate characteristics, which could cause noncompliance with emissions standards for these vehicles.
All affected units of the 2023 model-year Chevy Silverado and Chevy Colorado have been placed under a stop-delivery order in both the U.S. and Canada until the fuel injectors have been replaced.
The problem: affected 2023 Chevy Silverado and Colorado trucks are fitted with fuel injectors that have different flow rate characteristics than the turbo 2.7L engines need for proper functioning.
The hazards: because of the incorrect flow rate of the fuel injectors, affected pickups may fail to meet emissions standards because engine fueling is not optimized when certain driving conditions are present.
The fix: The General instructs its dealerships to replace the fuel injectors with the incorrect flow rate with newly available fuel injectors with matched flow rate characteristics. These injectors are supplied in a set of four, along with new gaskets, seals, and fuel feed pipes. Installation of the new injectors requires approximately 4.3 hours labor time for Chevy Silverado and Chevy Colorado trucks.
Because of the small number of affected vehicles and the limited availability of the replacement fuel injectors, dealers are requested to verify involvement of a specific Silverado or Colorado unit by seeing if is marked “Open” on the Investigate Vehicle History screen, found within the GM Global Warranty Management system.
Affected components: Engine fuel injectors and associated gaskets, seals, and fuel feed pipes. All affected trucks are motivated by one of two available 2.7L engine options, namely the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline TurboMax engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque in Turbo Plus tune, or 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque in Turbo High Output tune, and the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine, rated at 237 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.
Affected vehicles:
- 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500
- 2023 Chevy Colorado
- 2023 GMC Sierra 1500
- 2023 GMC Canyon
Number of affected vehicles: GM has determined through production records that an estimated total of 272 vehicles are affected by this voluntary emissions recall, across all four pickup models.

4 Cyl, no matter what turbo you put on it, doesn’t belong in a truck. I’m glad I got my 6.2 before they force these 4’s onto everyone. I don’t like the direction GM is going, They already have butchered the future Caddy lineups 🙁

toyota and other car companies have problem with white paint too. my camry had a recall for it, had the whole car repainted
My 1989 white Astro van peeled and I got a copy of the Technical Service Bulletin and it said 1988 to 1992 vehicles were affected. The paint process didn’t call for a surface primer between the electro galvanized coating and the base coat. UV rays would penetrate and cause a chemical reaction that allowed the base coat to release. They repainted my Astro as a goodwill campaign. My 1995 white Silverado did it too. It just took a little longer for it to happen and it was out of warranty. A friend had a 1992 Silverado that peeled and GM refused to repaint it.
Picked up my new 2023 Colorado January 9 and asked dealership if my truck fell had any issues like the the turbo, dead battery, howling noise in rear end, or roof buckling. They run vin number and said there was no issue with my truck but thinking my blind side alert isn’t working. Start up vehicle and yellow car shows up on mirror but I’ve had car pass me and it didn’t work
They should call all 2015+up chevy trucks.
**Engine and transmission Missfire,
**humming sounds (where does it come from and why)
** constant vibration while driving on highway
**transmission kick when slowing down near stop in the city
**oil burning.
I went through the same issue in both 2016 & 2019. Both bought brand new.
What a disappointment and no help from chevrolet on any issue.
Im going for a Tundra next.

Cylinders do. And they have a class action lawsuit against them for that
$18,000 repair is for 2
$13,000 new engine for 1

2023 Colorado…Death rattle…clunk clunk..18,000 miles. In dealership shop for 5 weeks. They are replacing engine. No loaner vehicle. Paid Cash. Last time I will pay anything for this Chevy Colorado. What a freaking nightmare!
