About Chevrolet Colorado

The all-new, third-generation 2023 Chevy Colorado arrived featuring a new exterior, a new powertrain, plenty of on-board technology, and a completely revised interior. The new model rides on an updated platform, resulting in a more refined truck that is also more capable off-road.

Under the hood resides one of two powertrains – the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine as well as the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B engine in Turbo Plus and Turbo High Output configurations. The new powerplants are mated to a new-generation eight-speed automatic transmission, which is vastly improved compared to the preceding GM eight-speed automatic, though a few issues still remain.

A 2023 Colorado ZR2 Desert Boss Special Edition kicked off the new midsize pickup truck launch.

The Chevy Colorado was among NACTOY Truck of the Year finalists, having survived multiple rounds of selection in the 30th annual North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards.

Furthermore, the Chevy Colorado was just named the 2024 MotorTrend Truck of the Year.

This past May, GM unveiled the all-new 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison, the highly capable off-road midsize pickup truck developed in partnership with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV). For 2024, the ZR2 Bison is offered as a standalone trim level rather than as a package. In addition to a wealth of standard components from AEV, the 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison also incorporates development input from off-road racing champion Chad Hall, and was refined on the Rubicon Trail to boot, adding new features like front and rear jounce control dampers.

The 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison, incidentally, gets a standard bed-mounted spare, a new launch control feature, and a new Recovery Package. Its arrival means the Chevy Colorado ZR2 Desert Boss Special Edition package will not return for the 2024 model year, indirectly replaced by the Bison.

Furthermore, the 2024 Chevy Colorado drops the 8-inch driver information center, replaced by the 11-inch DIC across the lineup, and drops the mid-level Turbo Plus engine, adopting the GM’s new TurboMax engine branding as part of changes and updates for the 2024 model year. That means the 2024 Colorado will offer just the base L2R engine on WT and LT trim levels, and High Output L3B TurboMax engine on all other trims while optional on those trims. On a related note, here are the towing capacities of the 2024 Colorado.

The 2024 Colorado also offers a new Sports Bar Package and new Off-Road Lighting Package.

Check out everything that’s new and different for the 2024 Chevy Colorado.

For 2024, now six trim levels are offered, including Work Truck (WT), LT, Trail Boss, Z71, ZR2, and ZR2 Bison. Starting prices for the 2024 Chevy Colorado WT, LT, Trail Boss, and Z71 models are all up by $400, while pricing for the ZR2 is up only $100, and the ZR2 Bison has a starting MSRP of $60,095. Additionally, the destination freight charge is up $100 across the board to $1,595 and is included in these listed price increases.

Production of the 2024 Colorado was pushed back to this month.

  1. Is today April 1st? Such a great write up on a nice-looking truck! Now if a fellow could find a truck out there it would be nice, especially a 2024. This is click-bait from GM.
If you try to order a truck, the dealer tells you that he needs an allocation. The dealer then says, he’s not sure when the truck will arrive after the order.
It looks like GM takes care of countries other than the USA. We are last on their priority list.
    April Fools, my friends!

  2. I don’t get the point. These trucks are nearly impossible to find. I’m over a month into waiting for my dealer to get an allocation on a 24 after GM canceled the remaining open 23 orders, which I was one of. 🤨🤨

  3. Wait for the 2024, the 23 I had had nothing but electronics issues. Now there are alot of service bulletins and an injectors and rear bearing nose fix. Beautiful truck quality has gone way down from chevy. I’ve own 26 brand new chevy trucks and vans and my last 2 trucks have been nothing but in and out of the shop. This 2024 Colorado will be the last if it’s like the last 2.

  4. That’s a good lease???? Terrible.
I think I’ll save a few thousand and ride my bicycle to work.

  5. I love the idea of a mid-size truck, and the amount of power they’re getting out of a 4-cylinder is amazing, but I’m just not interested in putting up with the noise of a 4-cylinder when towing a trailer. If it had a turbo six it would be awesome. Until then I’ll just keep driving my 5.7 hemi, which drives REALLY nicely and gets about the same fuel mileage as the turbo 4 when towing. Yes, the 4-cylinder does a lot better when not towing, but that’s a penalty I’m willing to live with.

  6. Sure! I’ll take the ZR2 with a six speed Tremec. Oh. Wait a minute!
