General Motors has announced that Chevrolet Canada and Major League Soccer have formed a new partnership that makes Chevrolet an official partner of MLS in Canada and all three Canadian clubs.
Consisting specifically of the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Toronto FC, and CF Montréal clubs, this partnership will allow the two entities to work together to spread soccer throughout Canada by implementing specialized community events at academy training facilities. This is intended to provide young players an opportunity to meet Canadian MLS coaches and players.
“We are proud to announce this new partnership and welcome Chevrolet to Major League Soccer in Canada,” MLS Canada General Manager Diego Moratorio was quoted as stating. “Chevrolet shares our commitment to creating more opportunities for young and aspirational Canadians to turn dreams into reality, right here at home. We are excited to begin collaborating with Chevrolet’s passionate team to build their relationship with Canada’s growing soccer community.”
In return, this partnership will create opportunities for Chevrolet to engage with the League’s Canadian fan base. To this end, the Bow Tie brand will maintain a presence at MLS matches in Canada through in-venue and digital advertising and retail displays. Chevrolet will also be present at a number of MLS events as the season progresses.
“Chevrolet Canada is excited to partner with MLS, Vancouver Whitecaps, Toronto FC, and CF Montreal to support the highest level of soccer in Canada,” Chevrolet Canada Brand Director James Hodge claimed in a prepared statement. “This partnership supports grassroots soccer while fostering the development of youth both on and off the field. This collaboration takes on even greater significance by leveraging the power of our Canadian Chevrolet dealer community, and we look ahead to fueling a growing enthusiasm and passion for soccer among Canadians.”

Karen Motors, official vehicles of soccer moms.
Good to see Chevrolet making a presence here, but should do more in the US as official sponsors and partners of various sporting and media events.
Was cool (and made sense) to see Chevy hang with the best in IndyCar.
But… soccer??
