During the global debut of the all-new 2025 Chevy Equinox in the United States, General Motors officially announced the redesigned Chevrolet compact crossover in Canada as well.
GM Canada announced the all-new 2025 Chevy Equinox in the country which is scheduled to launch in mid-2024. It’s an important year for the nameplate, as the Chevy Equinox celebrates its 20th anniversary on the market with the formal arrival of the fourth-generation model.
“The all-new 2025 Equinox represents a milestone in Chevrolet’s crossover strategy, demonstrating our dedication to providing our customers with stylish design, advanced technology and safety,” said Brand Director of Chevrolet Canada, James Hodge. “The 2025 Equinox remains true to its core strengths that have earned it customer loyalty over the past two decades. It proudly holds the title of our Chevrolet top-selling SUV in Canada and is the second-best seller in our lineup, just behind the iconic Silverado,” he added.
As such, the all-new 2025 fourth-generation Chevy Equinox introduces changes and features that completely redefine the Bow Tie brand’s successful crossover. The larger body adopts the latest evolution of Chevrolet’s global design language, a more planted stance with 2.3 inches of extra width and new proportions inspired by the brand’s truck line – as is the case with the all-new Chevy Traverse.
Additionally, the 2025 Chevy Equinox features the Activ trim level for the first time in the model, introducing a rugged and adventurous new personality to the crossover. This version adopts a unique front fascia and styling details that give the vehicle more character, with all-terrain tires and a white roof available for a two-tone finish. The 2025 Equinox will also be offered in LT and RS trims that boast distinctive design cues.
Chevrolet Canada dealers will begin receiving the first orders for the redesigned all-new 2025 Chevy Equinox in the middle of this year, almost simultaneously with the model’s official launch in the United States during the summer. Over the last two decades, the Equinox has established itself as the brand’s best-selling utility vehicle in the Canadian market with a total of 322,000 units sold at the end of calendar year 2023.

I have owned 6 equinox since they were introduced, 2005, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2019 and 2020 , the last 2 we still have in the family.
These have been great crossovers since the first 2005 came into being.
I look forward to getting a 2025 Activ.
Our last 2 the 2019 is a 1.5 and the 2020 is a 2.0L.
The 1.5 is completely acceptable and a trouble free engine. In fact the 2019 is approaching 240, 000 km with just routine / recommended maintenance.
The 1.5L with the 8 speed will be a very good combination.
I also had a 2021 Terrain AWD with the 1.5L and the 9speed for close to a year. This was a very good vehicle, i like some of the features better than the Nox. I think the new Nox takes some of these traits , center consul with pass through, moving the shifter from the center consul, the more upright and square styling, black trim around the wheel wells , 9 speed etc.
Most people who have these vehicles never use them for towing, we never do as we have a pickup for that.
They are really a more upright all weather passenger vehicle, and for that purpose the 1.5 is completely competent.
I routinely drive the 1.5l and the 2.0l that we have , and honestly never use the extra power of the 2.0l. It just uses more fuel.
The one thing it does better are the sounds its makes from the 2.0l and dual exhaust outlets.
I will miss that on the 2025 Nox, but the other changes they are making to the Nox are right on what the market wants.
Some are talking about the disappearance of the LS, but the new Trax can fill that role and is already doing so
I think the 2025 Nox will be a run away success just like the Trax , the issue will be can GM supply enough to meet demand
We had a 2016 and now a 2020 with the 2.0T. My parents have a 2021 with the 1.5, which is slightly more fuel efficient, but no where near the power of the 2.0. And of course the fun factor of the 2.0 T is untouchable in comparison.
The 2025 looks sharp! I’m sure it will continue to be a successful SUV for GM.
Tom now I am not making fun or putting anyone down but most older people that I see driving the 1.5 equinox could care less about power parents my age or younger want a car that is more safe then fast. But I understand your point maybe with enough feedback GM will get the message but I wouldn’t hold my breath as they are absolutely stuck on EVs and a false utopia like demolition man with Sylvester Stallone…watch you’ll see the what I mean.
Kirk well said my friends own a 2018 1.5 Equinox with almost 100,000 miles on it it’s been trouble free except for brakes, transmission fluid change, and once on a four to six hour road trip the house for the turbo came loose my friend was able to put back on he just stopped at a Chevy dealership because he needed some clamps and I believe a new hose but he did himself on vacation but that’s the only thing that ever happened no electrical or engine or transmission issues he’s a mechanic on the side he takes care of my cars to. Anyway I currently own a 2020 equinox 2.0t which I love I asked my friend how is the 1.5 he said regardless of what people think it’s more then adequate on the highway for passing no it’s not a muscle machine but it gets the job done and is very good on gas high 30s if you don’t have a lead foot. Yes I believe the 2025 Equinox will be a great seller and who cares if it doesn’t outsell the RAV4 , not many vehicles can sell as much as a Silverado either and the equinox is Chevy’s number 2 only behind the Silverado in sales and they and that’s an achievement in itself!
This is exactly what I have been waiting for. Something to fit the gap between the larger Blazer & the offered Chevy Trax or Buick Encore. I need something smaller than my Blazer & this looks like a great option. My lease is up this year. Hopefully they will have one available for me at the time.
Nice looking vehicle. The sterling silver sure looks clean!
More GM Junk. Looks like an attempt to copy the RAV4 in looks but will never match reliability or resale value.
RAV4? Lol. Not even close in reference to looks. Equinox is selling pretty good for (junk) as you refer to it. I think you are looking at something other than a Equinox if you think it looks at all like the bland and boring looking rav4. As far as reliability, the Equinox is closing the gap in that respect also. The sales figures at the end of 2025 may just surprise some folks. As for as a clean sporty looking design the RAV4 isn’t even in the same ballpark!
@ Dman you know what make me laugh about Lewis’s comment….my 2020 Equinox was built in Canada and I am proud of that and I am am American. I once owned a 2002 Camaro Z28 built in Canada it was one of the best cars I ever owned and this Equinox is becoming that as well. People are brainwashed by Toyota and Hyundai/Kia meanwhile Chevy and Honda are catching up fast…watch out Toyota these “updates” your doing now should have been done 5 -10 years ago. The only thing I don’t like about the equinox is the CVT but I would never buy a FWD anyway.l because I need AWD for the winter in northern NJ.
Very well said. You are 110% correct. Thanks Dman
Does anyone know when I will be able to order my 2025 in the U.S. ?
One more thing : If someone gave me a RAV4 I would immediately sell it to buy another Equinox!!!!
Thank you Chevyman couldn’t have said it better myself!
Toyota lovers better get their “resale value” preaching done quick, because that is about to quickly change. Why? Because most vehicles were selling at or above MSRP in 2021 and thru most of 2023. This matters, because the data that Toyota points to compares MSRP verses average resale price. You will see “based off MSRP” in small print at the bottom of all these reports. Toyota manages production to keep prices close to MSRP, while GM (pre-covid) used rebates and deals to move the goods. It is just how the companies go to market. (you could say this about Asian makes vs US makes in general.)
I did the math on this a few years ago, so the numbers are not exact, but the point is.
You buy a Tundra with MSRP of $41K. Average deal at purchase $1000= net purchase price $40K excluding taxes and fees.
Buy a Silverado MSRP of $40K. Average deal at purchase $8000= net $32K excluding taxes.
Five years later you sell, get $20K for the Tundra and $17K for the Silverado. The resale value reports will tell you that the Tundra was higher, when in reality you lost $20K on the Tundra and only lost $15K on the Silverado, so you actually have $5K more in your pocket.
Hey notice how every time there’s positive comments Beachy and Dan B. Don’t comment. Just sayin
Built Equinox’s in Oshawa. Bodies were assembled in Ingersoll and shipped by truck to our plant prepped for immediate paint. They were decent looking vehicles but this one is pretty nice. Should sell a ton of them.
