GM debuted the next-generation 2024 Chevy Trax over a year ago as the Bow Tie’s new entry-level crossover.
On the outside, the 2024 Chevy Trax incorporates the Bow Tie brand’s latest design language for internal combustion-powered models, taking after the Chevy Blazer crossover. The all-new Trax is longer, lower, and wider than the preceding model. Up front is a set of LED headlamps, configured within a dual-level cluster. Five trim levels are on offer – LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and Activ – each including their own unique styling bits, from wheels to grille treatments.
Furthermore, the 2024 Chevy Trax offers a new Blackout Package and new roof rack cross rails.
Inside, the new 2024 Trax is roomier than the preceding model, and offers more safety features and tech, including a standard eight-inch diagonal infotainment screen on LS and 1RS trims, while higher-end LT, 2RS, and Activ trims get an 11-inch screen. Further onboard tech includes Active Noise Cancelation and cruise control, while Adaptive Cruise Control is offered on most trims.
Improvements to the 2024 Chevy Trax’s turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine help bring total output to 137 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 162 pound-feet of torque at 2,500 to 4,000 rpm. It is the same powerplant found in the Chevy Trailblazer in LS and LT trim levels. Additionally, the 2024 Trax boasts improved fuel economy over the previous-generation 2022 Chevy Trax.
Only front-wheel drive is available while the outgoing Trax offered an all-wheel-drive option. Those who would like AWD will need to move up to the aforementioned Trailblazer.
Praise for the Bow Tie brand’s subcompact crossover continues to pour in.
The 2024 Chevy Trax was one of 10 GM models among North American Car of the Year candidates, competing with six of those in the 2024 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year category.
In addition, the all-new Chevy Trax won the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. ALG Residual Value Award.
Furthermore, the next-gen Chevy Trax was named among Car and Driver 10Best Trucks and SUVs for 2024.
In case you missed it, GM Authority Executive Editor Alex Luft was also quite impressed with this legitimately good model that drives as well as it looks. He described the all-new 2024 Trax as “the Corvette of its segment,” particularly when it comes to handling prowess. Check out the video below:

Not for me but whatever you like, go for it. People laughed at my first new vehicle which was a short bed 82 S-10 Sport. It was mustard yellow with black lower body color. It was a looker but people called it a bumble bee or school bus.
Nitro Yellow is too “sour” for me. Nothing beats the pale, mild, non-metallic yellows of the 1960’s on a car. Like Butternut. IMHO.
Yup, I had a pale yellow 68 Mustang back in the 70’s.
I dunno about yellow cars. I got a great price on a mildly used pale yellow ’73 Plymouth Fury III 4 dr sedan w 360 cu in, in the ’70s, that we nicknamed the “Banana Boat”.
I suppose it was one more step up on the colour charts from the myriad of the absolutely “snoring” blacks, greys and whites that abound these days, but not a colour that I’d have chosen, had the vehicle not been such an excellent price.
I had a bright yellow Camaro SS in the shop that the colour really suited. Some colours lend themselves better to certain body styles than others. I think that it’s really a personal deal regarding what any given colour does for a vehicle’s body lines.
New Nitro Yellow? Is that the same as the old “Nitro Yellow” ? FFS man.
“NYC Taxi Yellow” … fixed it for you .
Waiting for a “Volcanic Red” ’24 Terrain. It’s similar to Mazda’s candy apple.
Waiting for one that the doors won’t flap like a dragon fly going down the Interstate. You know … striker plates .
How is this new news?? I bought my Nitro yellow Trax in April of 2023! Get on the ball GM Authority! 😂
Oh, my how much of that taxi cab paint did GM buy? They are slapping it on everything.
Why are we getting new articles for every single Trax color that’s already available? That’s not news.
Wish my company car was this color I would put a hazmat sticker on the back and maybe the “bumper humpers” would back off
