2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 Offers New Bed Utility Wall Package

The 2024 model year stands as the sixth year of the Bow Tie brand’s fourth-generation full-size pickup truck, and introduces a few changes over the preceding 2023 Silverado. One of these updates for the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 is the addition of a new bed utility feature.

Tagged with RPO code PCO, the LPO, or dealer-installed, Utility Wall Package is available in all trim levels of Crew Cab Short Bed configurations of the 2024 Silverado 1500. Designed to allow owners to conveniently hang or store items in the bed of their truck, this option costs $1,495 and includes the following (relevant RPO code in parenthesis):

  • Bedside Utility Wall Package (RVY)
  • Utility Wall Latch Kit (5WI)
  • Front Bed Utility Wall Package (SJS)

It’s worth noting that this package can’t be optioned in conjunction with the LPO, Drop-In Bedliner (RPO code VZX) feature, which itself was recently made available for the 2024 Silverado 1500.

As a reminder, the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 is offered with a plethora of powerplant choices, including the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline TurboMax engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.

Transmission options consist of either the GM eight-speed automatic transmission or the GM 10-speed automatic transmission, while 2WD is equipped as standard on a majority of trim levels and 4WD is an option.

Under the skin, the Chevy Silverado rides on the GM T1 platform, which it shares with the GMC Sierra 1500. Meanwhile, production of the 2024 model year kicked off in July 2023. Notably, the light-duty Silverado is manufactured at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, the GM Oshawa plant in Canada, and the GM Silao plant in Mexico.

  1. An accessory people will buy with a made up scenario they need it. Classic with truck and jeep owners. So many new truck owners go out a get a trailer hitch, tow hooks, etc despite never having towed a trailer, not owning a trailer, and no intention of owning one. I always imagine a wife questioning a husband why lol. It’s the mental image of “one day maybe I will”

    1. lol found the “made up scenario” people, they’re downvoting me. FYI I’ve consistently owned a truck for 21 years, but I actually use my truck as more than a grocery getter.

      2. Bought my first pickup in 1978 at age 18. It was a beater, a worn out 72 F-100 with a 6-cyl 3-spd. It was the cheapest base model you could get, with no radio just a plastic plate covering the hole in the dash. Since then I’ve had 5- Fords and 2-Chevys. All were used for their intended purpose, to haul. Current truck is a 2012 Silverado WT, but I’m planning to order a new one as soon as I’m confident that the drive train problems are resolved.

    2. Why are you so offended how people use their vehicle? Does it threaten your masculinity that people have a truck like you but only use it to drive to work? Sounds like you want to be the only man in the neighborhood with a “real truck”. Bet you leave your trailer ball in your receiver after you’re done towing to make sure people know you use your truck for “what it was intended for”.

    4. This was especially true in the days of 0% interest. Best time to buy accessories is when you have 0% interest on the purchase, this way you amortize the cost of your accessories over the purchase term of your vehicle at no cost above the initial investment. Buying one later on a credit card and paying anywhere between 12 and 25% interest greatly increases the cost of those accessories.

  4. How quickly we get off topic. I could care less how folks use their trucks. Your money and your business! Might be handy for some but would definitely be a debris catcher.

  5. I’m just wondering, when will Chevrolet decide to put a panoramic sunroof on the Silverado?!

  6. It’s an interesting system, but is it really necessary, especially with the short box? I’ve yet to find anything I can’t secure in my Denali using the 12 factory installed anchors, and I have the standard box so there’s another foot between the anchors compared to the short box. I’ve used the stock anchors to secure everything from small block Chevy ‘s and a Boss 429, to a 9″ Ford rear, coolers, tool boxes, propane tanks, fuel cans and my wife’s purchases at the outlets.

  7. Chevy needs to get their engines figured out before worrying about bed accessories. Once they get rid of afm I’ll buy one.

  8. Dman a ne everyone else I don’t care if you use your truck to beat around in but please when it’s snowing out and you don’t have flashing lights don’t run me off the road there is no need to go 90 miles an hour in between driveways…it’s amazing how people need to feel important either that or it’s a Napoleon complex…and no it’s not just young guys it’s everyone…other then that do whatever you want with your truck me I would go all retro and put a pool in the bed lol
