The 2024 Chevy Express commercial van has remained largely unaltered since its 1996 model year debut, with the exception of a product refresh in 2003.
The 2024 model year introduces a few changes to equipment availability and prices, but few other significant updates. Now, the official configurator for the 2024 Chevy Express is live on the Chevrolet website.
Multiple configurations of the 2024 Chevy Express continue to be offered to fulfill a wide range of roles, including Passenger Van variants, Cargo Van variants, and Cutaway variants. Buyers can choose between two available engines, including the atmospheric 4.3L V6 LV1 gasoline engine cranking out 276 horsepower and 298 pound-feet of torque, and the atmospheric 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine providing 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. The V8 L8T engine is was briefly dropped from availability on the Express Cargo for the 2024 model year, but is now available on all configurations again.
The Chevy Express also got two new transmissions for the 2024 model year. The 8-speed automatic transmission tagged with RPO code MTH is now paired with the V6 LV1 engine, replacing the previous 8-speed automatic transmission tagged with RPO code M5U. Meanwhile, the 8-speed heavy-duty automatic transmission (RPO code N8X) is now mated to the V8 L8T engine in place of the 6-speed heavy-duty automatic transmission tagged with RPO code MYD.
Additionally, GM has dropped several infotainment system options from the 2024 Chevy Express, including those listed below (relevant RPO codes listed in parenthesis):
- AM/FM stereo with MP3 player and USB port (U0H)
- SiriusXM Radio (U2K)
- Bluetooth for phone (UPF)
- Wi-Fi Hotspot capable (VV4)
Pricing for the Express also increased sharply for 2024, with price increases of anywhere from $1,600 to $2,900 depending on the specific model. The least costly configuration, the Express Cargo 2500 Regular Wheelbase in the Work Truck trim with the 4.3L V6 LV1 under the hood, has a starting price of $42,595 including destination freight charge – 20 percent higher than three years ago.
For structure, the 2024 Chevy Express is underpinned by the GMT 610 platform. Production of the Chevy Express takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri, with the Chevy Express Cutaway also built by Navistar at its Ohio facility.

Congratulations gm, it only took you how many months to do this?
What a joke!
Doesn’t matter you need to be a giant fleet company to get one anyway. Regular consumers like us have little to no chance.
More like 0 and none ! Been waiting since Apriln2021
No, I just tried it and it does not work.
All the car manufacturers have drank the EV koolaid and have invested in EV development. Propelling anything with an electric motor is far superior to an ICE. The problem has always been the batteries. We are one maybe two technological steps away from total EV domination. Glad to see GM is investing a billion dollars in ICE technology. The Volt that GM came out with over a decade ago
Was the best way to bridge that transition. GM’s diesel electric locomotives have been built now for decades. Elon has everyone convinced that his way with super chargers is the way to go. Dodge is coming out with a pick up in 2025 that is the same principle as GM’s diesel electric locomotives and the original Volt. Let’s see if the consumer will be less likely to drink Elon’s koolaid this time around. Thanks GM for the money injection for ICE vehicles.
