The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse introduces the third generation of the Bow Tie’s large, three-row crossover, bringing a full exterior and interior overhaul, which The General revealed in mid-July 2023. Having shown you the 2024 Traverse LT in Mosaic Black Metallic with the Midnight Edition package, as well as a 2024 Traverse LT Sport Edition in Summit White and a 2024 Traverse LS Sport Edition, we’re now bringing you the 2024 Traverse LT in Mosaic Black Metallic (paint code GB8) in today’s GM Authority Live Photo Gallery (you won’t see these photos anywhere else).
The Z71 trim is a new off-road variant for the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse. Highlighted by more rugged styling cues, it’s based around the mid-range LT trim.
At the front, we see the new dual-tier headlight treatment known as the Chevy Highbrow theme. The high Gloss Black grille (RPO code 5A0) seen here is exclusive to the Z71, complemented by a black Chevy Bow Tie badge. The front fascia of the Traverse Z71 is unique, as it was purposely designed for an improved approach angle. An aluminum skid plate and signature Z71 red tow hooks round out the front fascia.
The profile reveals more Z71-exclusive content, including a set of Black mirror gaps, Gloss Black roof rails (RPO code V5R), plus high gloss Black door upper and low gloss Black belt moldings (RPO code BSW). The “shark fin” C-pillar is an element used on all 2024 Chevrolet Traverse trims, but the 18-inch High Gloss Black painted machined-face wheels (RPO code PXW) are exclusive to the Traverse Z71. The rollers are wrapped in 265/65R18SL all-terrain tires (RPO code XCK).
At the rear, we can see the all-new taillights, which are integrated with a black horizontal aesthetic across the tailgate. The Z71’s rear is finished off by quad squared-off exhaust tips inset into the rear bumper, with split exhaust leading to dual outlets on either side.
As a reminder, the 2024 Chevy Traverse is a deep reskinning of the outgoing, second-generation Traverse, keeping the bones but reworking nearly everything else. In addition to a complete overhaul of the exterior and interior, the third-gen Traverse adopts the new Global B electronic architecture.
The crossover also gets a new powerplant in the form of the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine, developing a GM-rated 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque, linked to a GM eight-speed automatic transmission for cog swaps and a choice of standard FWD or optional AWD. The Z71 trim specifically is available in all-wheel-drive only.
2024 Chevy Traverse production is scheduled to kick off in February at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.

So what Chevrolet; you stick a couple hooks and plastic underbelly plates on a station wagon with big tires and think we should be impressed; seriously? You kill off the Camaro, the average person can’t afford the Corvette, where is ‘the Heartbeat of America’ – and don’t expect me to get excited about a full size RC car because batteries just aren’t going to do it…
Blame America for loving SUVs and crossovers way more than sport coupes and muscle cars.
The Z71 trim here is also longer travel suspension, wider track, lift kit, off road tuned shocks and a locking rear axle. It has more off road specific features honestly than a Side-by-side, granted that’s because a side by side is also designed for off road, and has less room to make up. It’s a great vehicle for a weekend warrior who goes out on the dunes, or in the national forest but doesn’t want a wrangler as a daily driver. It’s a way better option than a raptor/hummer pavement prince.
I might look for one of these used as my future DD
Butching up FW/AWD crossovers worked for Jeep (Renegade, Compass, Cherokee) I see nothing wrong with Chevrolet and gmC (is this how we’re writing it now?) doing the same thing.
Also, despite some carping here, I see nothing wrong with the “floating” C-pillar. It is not like it’s a new thing at Chevy. The current Trailblazer has a version of it.
It looks good, imho.
I like it. Looks good.
Didn’t GM release this vehicle back in July 2023?
Why don’t they put the head-up display option for this vehicle. That’s one of the hold backs from buying this vehicle. That is one thing that I want in the vehicle .
You will have to move over to its sister brand, GMC, and order an Acadia with the luxury package.
Looks better than my wife’s 2021. The small 4 cylinder pushing this around is a bit concerning though.
I really wish they would have made a 4.3 with skip fire and a hotter cam and dropped it in the crossovers. Properly built it’s a 400hp engine.
Now just allow the option of a bench seat in the Z71 instead of captains chairs, and this would be the perfect road tripper with the 3rd row folder flat.
These spy shot clearly aren’t recent photos. Hasn’t look like that outside in Detroit in months. Something must be seriously wrong with the early production runs, still no pricing or recent photos. Who knows if they are right but a dealer told me they are just going to call the traverse a 2025. Right move at this point.
100% incorrect.

Production is scheduled to start in a few weeks.
Your dealer needs to do their research.
I hate to see them watering down the Z71 brand. They put an SS on everything but a Prism in the early 2000’s. Traverse and Z71 don’t go together. The shark fin is horrible!
Could you show the RS in silver with wheels option SP4 20 inches. I have ordered one last week
Mr. Alex Luft, please call our favorite aunt Mary and ask her to send an engineer out on the road this week in a silver Traverse RS with SP4 wheels, so it can be photographed and posted. I am certain she has one handy. Thanks so much! 🙂
Does anyone know when production begins of the NEW 2024 Traverse?
some models do not look so well, others, better,, but a sick 4 cylinder pushing around a big heavy suv ,ain’t my cup of tea,,, guess i;ll give toyota suvs a reall good look this yr,,you just need a more powerful engine inthe traverse,, and that 4 cylinder, will fall apart after 60,000 miles,, sad chevy sad
