The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse introduces the third generation of the Bow Tie’s large, three-row crossover, bringing a full exterior and interior overhaul, which The General revealed in mid-July 2023. Having shown you the 2024 Traverse LT in Black equipped with the Midnight Edition package, a 2024 Traverse Z71 in Red, and a Traverse LS Sport Edition in white, we’re now bringing you the 2024 Traverse LT Sport Edition in today’s GM Authority Live Photo Gallery.
This particular Traverse is painted in Summit White (paint code GAZ) and is equipped with the Sport Edition package. The Sport Edition package is a package that adds black exterior accents, analogous to the Midnight Edition. What sets the two packages apart is that the Midnight Edition is available exclusively with black exterior paint, while the Sport Edition is available in colors other than Black.
Starting with the front end of the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse LT, styling elements from the Chevy “Highbrow” theme are clearly visible in the dual-tier headlight treatment and the overall front fascia design. Sporting the “tougher”-looking, truck-inspired design found throughout the new Traverse trim lineup, this particular LT has the Black grille that’s unique to the Sport Edition (as well as the aforementioned Midnight Edition).
The side profile reveals more content from the Sport Edition package. The roof rails mark this is an LT trim vehicle, since they are not included on the base LS trim. Sport package features include the 20-inch High Gloss Black painted aluminum wheels (RPO code SLV) the Traverse is riding on here. The black rims are wrapped in 255/55R20 all-season blackwall tires (RPO code Q3N).
The side profile also shows the “shark fin” C-pillar treatment, while the rear end clearly shows the new taillights.
The Sport Edition package also includes Black Bow Tie badges, a Black nameplate badge and Black AWD badges on all-wheel drive models, and high gloss Black door upper and low gloss Black belt moldings (RPO code BSW). Being a pre-production unit, this particular model is missing the nameplate and AWD badging at the rear, while the Chevy Bow Tie logo has also not been installed.
A set of quad polished exhaust tips inset into the rear bumper are found across the whole 2024 Chevrolet Traverse trim lineup, including the LT trim.
The changes to the third-gen 2024 Chevrolet Traverse are more than skin-deep, extending to a new powerplant cradled under the hood. The turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine introduced for the third generation provides 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque per GM estimates.
An eight-speed automatic transmission connects this engine to the drivetrain, which has a FWD standard configuration with optionally available AWD.
The long-wheel-base GM C1 platform is found under the skin and includes the new Global B digital architecture.
The 2024 Traverse has seen its start of regular production (SORP) pushed back by several months, with production now set to kick off in February at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.

Looks good, I like the high contrast white/black treatment. Having trouble figgering out why Chevy doesn’t eliminate the “Midnight Edition” and just offer the “Sport Edition”, which seems to have the same black trim bits added, available across the body color spectrum.
Someone at GM is having to justify their job. You’re absolutely right. The Sport and Midnight editions have the same options. Just call them Sport Editions regardless of the Exterior Color…..
Midnight is a theme that denotes a black vehicle with black accents.
Sport is another theme that denotes a vehicle that’s NOT black with the same black accents as in the Midnight Package.
The two serve different purposes based on the color/theme alone.
The C pillar shark fin treatment gives it that hearse look.
The shark fin thing looks tacked on.
And it’s backwards, sharks down swim backward. Dumbest design ever.
That resulting rear visibility looks like it would be almost non-exhistant…. Yikes!
Haha it’s the tahoe as a crossover
This article is lazy. Just repeats the same information we’ve heard already, over and over. Just a few “sneak peak” photos. Nothing new to see or report here.
I call BS on your logic.
First of all the article is tagged as a photo gallery. Given that the Traverse has never been spotted on the road before, I’d say this is a pretty important thing for those of us interested in the new Traverse. I have never seen the new Traverse on the road before… have you?
Second of all GMA do a great job at describing what’s in the package.
The article is complete and interesting… seems that many others are of the same opinion too.
I’m sorry, but that rear end treatment looks like they applied kinesiology therapeutic tape, just not appealing to me. And what happened to the trailer hitch cover, don’t like the receiver being exposed. Keep it simple and keep it clean looking. I’ll keep my 2019 for now.
It is pretty obvious that the receiver cover is not installed. This is not a “Dealership Ready” vehicle.
NASA is taking applications if you’re interested……lol
Speaking of hitch cover…. I had a 2019 Chevy Equinox. Well, I was rear ended… I never knew there was a tow hitch..it was hidden behind that piece of plastic. Yes I had the tool package. I thought it just meant I could install a hitch.
They made it look as good as it can be for what it is.
Another generic looking vehicle with ugly black wheels.
That face……nice underbite.
Chevy needs a lesson in basic design principles. 1) form follows function. That c pillar sharkfiin is an abomination largely because it appears completely unnatural to the human eye. We all know just by intuition that an aborted pillar connected to nothing has no structural value, hence our brains trigger a “yuck!” reaction to such stupidity.
2) blacking out the rocker creates the appearance of excess ground clearance. Yes, this works when you are trying to make an Aztec look macho. No, this isn’t a good idea for a “sport” version. Presumably such a version would be oriented toward good handling. The body color really should extend to the bottom of the rocker to help the appearance.
3) contrast is best used to highlight desirable features. Black wheels on this thing are nearly invisible in the black wheelhouse surrounded by black plastic and blacked out rockers. The wheels might as well be temporary spares. As it is, they manage to look over tall and under-wide. Scrawny. They are also set too narrow to fill out the wheel wells.
4) Small details make big differences in perception. See all above…….
Buncha Know-It-Alls.
Of course, the C-pillar has structural value. The floating roof design (not shark-fin) gives the illusion that the c-pillar is not connected to the roof but of course behind the surface panel, it is.
My God, keep it to yourself. Literally nothing you just said was true or beneficial to anybody. The only stylistic problem the new Traverse has is the shark fin, and it’s absolutely not because anyone notices or cares intuitively about its lack of function. It’s because it screams “trying too hard to be cool, in the wrong way, on the wrong type of vehicle.” Other than that one detail, it’s one of the best looking models in its class.
This “thing” looks like they had three different groups working on designing it. Front, middle and back. They glued each piece together and said… WELL DONE! Let’s go with it. It looks totally disjointed and messy. Sloppy design. Model before this so called update looked so much cleaner. Pass.
Agree. GM is very much a fan of the Mr. Potato Head approach to redesign. I believe this is being called a clean-sheet but it resembles so many of their mid cycle refreshes where they mess with a fascia, maybe some tail lights or a grille and end up wrecking what was previously a cohesive design. Reminds me of the 2019 camaro debacle.
How about showing us one without the blackout treatment for a change?
When can you order the new Traverse RS?
My biggest beef about the New Chevrolet’s is the increased use of hard touch plastics on the panels, doors and dash. It really makes them look cheap especially when the colours are 90% done in black!
lol Chevrolet use barely any plastics in their vehicles. I think you’re referring to the 2006-2012 models of chevrolet. Newer models all have soft touch material not plastic lol
Aesthetically I like it. Inside and out. Hope the reviews and especially long-term reliability reports are good.
Looks like opel had a hand in the design. Hate that swooping rear window. Even worse on the Opels, but reminiscent and ugly on this one too.
Ugly.
