2022 BrightDrop Zevo 600 Recalled For Front-Drive Unit Oil Leak

General Motors has released a recall for certain units of the 2022 BrightDrop Zevo 600 due to a problem related to a leaky front-drive unit.

The problem: Affected vehicles may have a condition where the front-mounted Ultium Drive motor unit has the potential to leak oil.

The hazards: If the front-drive unit were to leak oil, a fire could break out in the underhood compartment.

The fix: Certified GM technicians will be instructed to inspect affected models and replace the vehicle as necessary, free of charge.

Affected components: Front-drive unit.

Number of affected vehicles: There are believed to be 66 units of the BrightDrop Zevo 600 affected as of the time of this writing. It’s worth noting that early BrightDrop units were called the EV600, and these have been manufactured by an outside supplier, as production at the GM CAMI plant in Canada kicked off toward the end of the 2022 calendar year. The recall also points out that all affected vehicles are owned by a single fleet customer.

Owners should: General Motors will notify owners of affected vehicles by February 15th, 2024 and instruct them to make an appointment with their local GM dealer. Any owners that are unsure whether or not their vehicle is affected by this recall can visit my.gm.com/recalls and type in their VIN to see any open recalls or other actions that may be active on it. Owners can also reach out to BrightDrop or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) directly with any questions or concerns they may have using the recall number and contact information included below.

  5. Replace vehicle for a leaky front drive unit? Guess it’s cheaper to replace a complete vehicle than a drive motor.

    1. Sooooo, when these are out of warranty and they develop an oil leak, the the whole vehicle has to be replaced??? That should be great for resale values! That’s when that body gets refitted to a Silverado HD chassis with an ICE drivetrain.

  7. Who is running this company and why are they still in this position? There has never been more recalls under a CEO in gm’s history ! At this point I don’t know if you and your colleagues can boil water. It’s hard to believe someone could be a worse CEO than Roger Smith. Unfortunately history may be repeating itself.

    1. Ssoooo, Going to an ELECTRIC VEHICLE is the best way to go. There are hardly any parts to fail and the use of Fossil fuels is zilch. EXCEPT for this “Little Oil Leak”. It’s NO BIG DEAL REALLY. We just REPLACE THE WHOLE VEHICLE and your on your way. What a great thing to have in the back of your mind as you near the end of your warranty period. tHahahahahahah Hahahahahahah. OMG. DO THESE PEOPLE HEAR THEMSELVES.

  9. Over a 10 percent failure rate. But u get a new vehicle and don’t forget these are so much better for the environment. Ha ha u can’t make this sh t up.
