Back in the mid-1980s, General Motors decided it needed a competitor to high-priced exotics from Ferrari and Lamborghini, and commissioned Knudsen Automotive to produce a vehicle based of the third-gen GM F-Body platform. The result was the Firebird-based Pontiac Tojan, of which only a handful were built. Today, one of these examples is currently posted for auction online.
Up for grabs on Bring a Trailer, this 1987 Tojan boasts a clean Ohio title, and only 41,000 miles on the odometer. A clean Carfax report demonstrates that this unique vehicle hasn’t been damaged nor been involved in any accident, and has spent some time in Florida, Georgia, Michigan, and Ohio.
Perhaps the most striking aspect of this Tojan is the bodywork, as it almost looks as though it’s wearing an aftermarket body kit. In actuality, this is an official GM product. Designed by Harry Bradley, the Tojan features flared fiberglass bodywork with vented front fenders, pop-up headlamps, and integrated fog lights. Although this particular unit left Knudsen Automotive’s Nebraska facility with a two-tone black and silver paint job, it now boasts an all-black color scheme.
From factory, this unit was equipped with the WS6 performance suspension package, and now wears polished 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels with unique Tojan center caps. Disc brakes can be found at all four corners.
Moving to the interior, we find a Carmine Red leather interior colorway, along with Recaro front bucket seats that have “Tojan by Recaro” embroidered in gold. Burled walnut accenting adorns the dashboard and center stack, while a Tojan logo can be spotted on the passenger’s side of the dash.
Some amenities include a Kenwood AM/FM stereo, trunk-mounted Rockford Fosgate subwoofer and amplifiers, air conditioning, cruise control, and power windows, mirrors, and door locks.
Under the hood lies the naturally aspirated 5.7L V8 L98 gasoline engine, which powers the rear wheels through the GM four-speed automatic transmission. Notably, the seller claims that this Tojan received an oil change in preparation for the auction.

I have never heard of this vehicle. How many were made??
Was this a promo for Trojan condoms?
That might explain the outer skin.
Tojan was Trojans discount brand.
Learn to read. It’s Tojan, not trojan.
i wonder if a woman came with it
No, but they’ll come running just as fast as they can.
I’ll give it a thumbs-up. I like styling, but the interior could use a little work.
Never liked these.
I always referred to them as TojaMs.
Kitt’s european cousin.
Ugly
Looks like manufacturer camoflage attempt when they are road testing new models
Yes, the way the fenders bulge. All in all it would look better on a longer car.
Typical white boy car.
the car got all the heaters looking just rember will be a show stopper also
Not claiming or suspecting anything here. Just an observation. The front seat, drivers in particular, show a hell of alot of wear for 41k on the clock. Let the buyer beware.
Ad a fan of almost all things Pontiac, this massaged Firebird is interesting to me, but only as a unique cars and coffee thing. I seriously doubt it’ll ever have any collector car value.
I generally like the execution, but not a big fan of the seats.
Damn I LOVE that car. I’ve never seen nor heard of one in my life but it’s REALLY BADASS… I like the looks of the ass end of that BEAST¡!¡
Yeah 2 thumbs up from me…. SAL
It’s a wide body firebird. The hood and trunk are extended for I don’t know why. Putting the fiero look on a Camaro makes no sense.
I can’t unsee the dark horse logo now lol
Butt ugly and the motor is a turd.
Look it up this is the fastest Pontiac if it’s the one with the twin turbo pumping out over 400 horsepower able to hit 200 mph back in the 80’s!!!
Reminds me of a 1986 Nissan 300ZX.
Looks like a stretched Pantera
