The third-generation GMC Acadia was unveiled in September at the 2023 Detroit Auto Show, launching for the 2024 model year with new styling, larger exterior dimensions, a roomier cabin, and new tech items. Interestingly, GM is hoping the 2024 GMC Acadia will attract additional female buyers with regard to customer demographic.
The new insight was provided by GMC Acadia Marketing Manager Katherine Weber, who recently spoke with GM Authority Executive Editor Alex Luft.
For those readers who may be unaware, one of the big changes introduced with the all-new 2024 GMC Acadia is longer, wider, and taller exterior dimensions. Compared to the preceding 2023 model year, the 2024 Acadia measures in with a wheelbase that’s 8.4 inches longer, an overall length that’s 10.6 inches longer, and an overall height that’s 3.2 inches taller.
Interestingly, the new dimensions return the Acadia to its full-size crossover roots, as the first-generation Acadia was roughly the size of the new third-gen model, while the second-generation shrank an entire segment to a midsize model.
With that in mind, GM Authority asked Weber if there was anything surprising in terms of demographics with regard to the different sizing between the Acadia’s various generations. Weber said that while there was nothing surprising, GM wants the new third-generation 2024 GMC Acadia “to really appeal to the female drivers,” adding “that’s kind of our goal, is to get more female drivers in the Acadia.”
This stands in contrast to the new Chevy Traverse, which has historically skewed towards female buyers, but is expected to attract more male buyers with the launch of the all-new 2024 model year, in particular with the launch of the new Z71 trim level.
As a reminder, the 2024 GMC Acadia features the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine as standard, as GM Authority was the first to cover. The four-cylinder connects to the GM eight-speed automatic transmission as standard, while the GM C1 platform provides the underpinnings. Production takes place at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant.

I actually think it is more masculine looking than the previous gen. I think this is good because the previous gen had too much of the soccer mom van look with exception of the AT4.
Does it have a vibrator in the seat or a tampon dispenser under the dash? How is it built for women. Very sexist story about nothing
Mmmmm.
Does have Start Stop??. Ugh, hate this! Too much government!!
When will they post a build & price for GMC Acadia? Would like to get my order as soon as possible.
If the turbo engine is standard does that mean there will be options
I don’t think it really matters anymore as to what gender a particular vehicle is designed for as we no longer live in a society that only deals with male / female designation. Designs can be equally attractive or not to all gender designations! This helps to ensure freedom of choice and expression as to what each individual finds best suited for their daily needs and in the end, that truly is all that matters.
Looks like a kia telluride 🤣🤣🤣
The telluride was supposed to be a knock off Range Rover so.. not a huge insult
It’s at least not a Kia 😂
DAAAAAMN that screen!!
They realized women are the hard workers making the big purchases now lol
Got myself a truck and was set on getting myself that new 2024 Travers but NOW! Idfk! 😠decisions decisions man 😅
Recently, had my eye on a specific Acadia but not as many monetary incentives as Buick offered; so I got an Enclave instead of the Acadia that I had my heart set on.
Therefore, to attract us female drivers you need to offer more monetary incentives so we can obtain and drive the GMC Acadia.
So, the article says it’s longer and wider, how does that appeal to females? Seems more like an insult to me.
Hope they put a different engine in it. Many people have had bad luck with the ones they have. Do your homework before u buy.
Great, another chick car. When will GM bring back Full size like 2002 GMC Envoy SLT offer 45 inches legroom along with 42 inches headroom. Envoy had 40 cubic feet behind second row seats. Envoy no longer had OEM thermostat on front duel HVAC. After market unit quit after 12 months, required replacing air blower along with thermostat.
Financed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 3.0-L Duramax Turbo Diesel DENALI Crew S.B. 4WD at GMC Lutz, Florida under Certified-Pre-Own 4 door pickup. Offers 44 inches legroom with 42 inches headroom. Wife drives it when we travel. Sierra 1500 Denali has 2 driver seat/outside mirrors memory. Sierra 1500 Duramax inline-six turbo diesel gets 30 MPG at 70 MPH in Adaptive Cruise.
Definately will be disappointed if there’s no option for a V6 anymore
I had a very bad experience with gmc… I’m off them. Hope it functions way better than the previous models, they lost a customer in me I’m cool.
I actually thought that it was more masculine looking and I don’t get this article at all. I’m a guy and I like it. Stupid sexist article 🙄.
