Used Cadillac CT5 Units Selling Well In October 2023

Cadillac CT5 luxury sedans that find their way onto the used car market are selling more than two weeks faster than the average used vehicle, according to an iSeeCars study comparing how long various models stay on the market before being purchased.

In fact, the Cadillac CT5 is in 8th place among the “10 Fastest Selling Used Cars” per the study, which looks at pre-owned vehicle sales data from the month of October 2023.

On average, buyers purchased a used Cadillac CT5 33.3 days after the sedan was listed for sale. The study notes this is 0.7x faster than the average for the used car market overall, which sees a typical vehicle sold in a relatively tardy 49.2 days, or almost 16 days slower than the CT5.

Another Cadillac model, the Cadillac XT6 crossover, achieved third place in the Top 10, selling after 30.1 days on the market. This placed it just behind the top two models – the BMW X5, usually selling in 26.8 days or 0.5x average, and the Toyota Highlander Hybrid, typically remaining listed for 29.0 days or 0.6x of the overall average.

The Cadillac CT5 and XT6 bucked a trend which saw most luxury models among the slowest-selling used cars in October 2023. However, the CT5’s sporty performance, and especially that of its CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing variants, may be aiding its sales, since sports cars are selling fast in contrast to purely luxury models.

While sports cars and hybrids were snapped up quickly by buyers, electric vehicles fared worse than the overall used market average. The typical EV took 52.4 days to sell, while the Ford F-150 Lightning lingered for 78.4 days and certain models of both EVs and luxury cars stayed unsold for 100 days or longer.

This was despite deep declines in EV price. While overall used car prices fell 5.1 percent year-over-year from October 2022, pre-owned EV prices plunged “much farther and faster, with EVs currently down more than 33 percent compared to a year ago,” per executive analyst Karl Brauer.

As a reminder, the Cadillac CT5 is still in its first generation. The mid-cycle refresh has been postponed until the debut of the 2025 Cadillac CT5 sometime next year.

  1. Pre-owned refreshed CT5s will probably prove even more popular.
