The 2024 Chevy Trax was unveiled in October of 2022, showing off a brand-new, entry-level model for the Bow Tie brand’s crossover lineup. Production got underway in February of this year at the GM Changwon plant in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea. Now, GM Authority has learned that four exterior paint colors for the 2024 Chevy Trax will have an early buildout compared to the rest of the crossover’s color palette.
According to GM Authority sources, the following four 2024 Chevy Trax exterior colors will have an early buildout (relevant paint codes listed in parentheses):
- Blue Glow Metallic (GGK)
- Fountain Blue (GLN)
- Cayenne Orange Metallic (GFQ)
- Harvest Bronze Metallic (GZF)
As GM Authority covered previously, orders for the 2025 Chevy Trax are set to begin in January of 2024. As such, now is likely the last chance to order the 2024 Chevy Trax in one of the four exterior colors listed above.
The 2024 Chevy Trax offers a total of ten exterior paint options, including:
- Blue Glow Metallic (GGK)
- Cacti Green (GVR)
- Cayenne Orange Metallic (GFQ)
- Crimson Metallic (GFM)
- Fountain Blue (GLN)
- Harvest Bronze Metallic (GXN)
- Mosaic Black Metallic (GB8)
- Nitro Yellow Metallic (GCP)
- Sterling Gray Metallic (GXD)
- Summit White (GAZ)
Three of these exterior paint colors are offered as extra-cost options, specifically Nitro Yellow Metallic, Cayenne Orange Metallic, and Fountain Blue, all of which are available for an extra $395. As for availability, Nitro Yellow Metallic and Cacti Green are available on 1RS, 2RS and Activ trim levels, Blue Glow Metallic is available on LS and LT trims, Fountain Blue is available on 1RS and 2RS trims, and Harvest Bronze Metallic is available on LS, LT, and Activ trims.
With regard to the mechanical specs, the 2024 Chevy Trax cradles the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine as standard, rated at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Under the skin, the new Trax rides on the GM VSS-F vehicle set.

That Harvest Bronze Metallic looks like they were harvesting poop. It’s awful. And awfully named. Even has a greenish tint in some light conditions. I’d never. Can’t stand Fountain Blue either but that’s the trendy color these days. One did it and all must have it. I’d never on that one either.
Was considering a Caywhen Orange. Figures.
IMHO, Cacti is THE color to have, I love mine and have gotten compliments. It is refreshing, modern and retro (late 40’s-early 50’s vibe) all in one. Still I am waiting to see the color availability on the ’25 model.
Cacti looks great on the Trax but not on all vehicles, like the Corvette. If the ’25s start production next month, we should see the Order Guide any minute now.
Except I saw a C8 Z06 in cacti at the auto show and it looked reeeeally good in person.
We have a Cacti green 1RS at work. its a great color for the Trax
What does “early buildout” mean? Will these colors no longer be availalble?
It means they’re done building them for the model year. With demand higher than expected, they’re probably trying to get out more in the more popular colors. It doesn’t necessarily mean they’re gone for good, as they could come back for the 2025 model year when production starts.
I believe “early buildout” is a sanitized way of really saying “no longer available.” I almost bought a Blue Glow LT like the one pictured in this story earlier this year. But the dealer wanted me to pay for extra add ons and for an additional dealer markup. Plus, the vehicle was filthy and dirty and not properly detailed even though I made an appointment ahead of time to test drive that particular vehicle. Sadly, I had to walk away. I still like the Trax. But I don’t want to be ripped off either.
Terrible for you! What a turn off. Doesn’t say much for the dealership, and Chevy in a way. Peace…🙏♐
As usual dangit, some of the better colors go away.
I won’t consider ANY color of this vehicle until GM wises up and offers an all wheel drive option. I like the look of the vehicle but can’t believe there’s no AWD version available. Shame on you GM.
The Trax was not engineered for AWD and is positioned at a lower price point for great value, even its Far East twin the Seeker which has even more features does not have AWD. An updated Trailblazer will be available soon, with refreshed fascia and interior designs along with AWD.
I have a Chevy Spark in a cayenne orange metallic shade ! It was the only Spark that was available for me back in July 2022, at first I was not into it because when it is cloudy outside this paint color is not superb.
But when it is sunny, and with different angles this color is awesome!
Paulie I disagree Americans don’t need another overpriced, overweight AWD Crossover the Trailblazer and equinox fill those gaps just fine. Besides before this AWD stuff we all drove front or rear wheel drive just fine in the winter.
Gee Chevy Man … We all did just fine without cell phones and computers too, but I bet you have at least one of each of those huh? If I liked the blazer, I’d buy one with AWD, but I don’t want that vehicle. I already own an AWD Equinox and was looking at replacing it with a Trax, more so for my daughter. I always thought GM was in business to make money while competing with other manufacturers for gaining new customers (or holding onto current ones). They’re always either too early or too late to the party. For example, GM had FWD cars too early, long before the Chrysler K-car made it popular and the new normal (not to mention GM’s were too powerful). Silverado ZR2 is late to the off-road truck trend, and still has no direct competition for the Raptor or Ram TRX. Seems like it would be more sensible to GAIN customers by offering AWD on a vehicle people want, versus sending them to the competition for cross shopping customers that can find something they actually want, with AWD, without having to jump up greatly in price.
Paulie GM is selling the Trax like hotcakes even without AWD it’s just proof that not every car built today has to have AWD… buy this for your daughter and she will become a better driver learning how to maneuver a FWD car in the snow… I learned in upstate NY with a FWD after that I owned two more FWD cars then a 2002 Camaro Z28 that I drove in the snow with snow tires rear wheel drive and all and I never had an accident in the snow with that car. Good luck on finding a different brand even though Chevy has the TRAILBLAZER NOT BLAZER and the very good Equinox.
WRONG AGAIN! You’d think a guy named “Chevy Man” would know that Chevy DOES have the Blazer! What a genius, no wonder I wouldn’t trust you on vehicles.
https://www.chevrolet.com/suvs/blazer
Paulie I already knew that Chevy sold the “BLAZER” but it’s not in the same price or size category as the “TRAILBLAZER”… your talking about two totally different vehicles the Blazer can go as high as $50,000 dollars and is bigger then the TRAILBLAZER which is smaller then the Blazer and the price tops out near $30,000 fully loaded… That’s why the CHEVY “BLAZER” does not belong in this conversation your talking about a totally different vehicle then the “TRAILBLAZER”! Get your facts straight.
My facts are straight … you CLEARLY stated, and I quote, “Chevy has the TRAILBLAZER NOT BLAZER” and most likely did your research after I posted the link to tell me what I already knew. I never brought up the size of the vehicle, because that’s not what I was referring to. As for needing luck to find another brand, there are PLENTY of similarly sized vehicles to the Trax WITH all wheel drive; Mazda, Volvo, Subaru, Kia, Hyundai, Ford, Toyota, Nissan… ALL have an AWD model available. Should be easy enough to find an alternative.
So Paulie then go buy another brand why come on here and complain about something on the Trax that’s not going to change… And I know my GM products I made a typo EXCUSE ME! I have known for years that Chevrolet makes the Blazer and Trailblazer and I will say again that the Blazer does no belong in this conversation… The alternative to the Trax is the Trailblazer not the Blazer I would not even dream of cross shopping a Blazer and Trailblazer neither would I put them in the same paragraph. I wish you luck finding a car for your daughter and Merry Christmas and happy new to you and your family 🎄🎁
I believe the new Trax is better looking than its cousin, the Buick Envista.
Plus the Cacti Green exterior color with the Trax is interesting even though I ordinarily dislike green.
It is true though: Cacti does have a retro look about it. That’s why I sorta like it. 👍
Peace…🙏♐
I have Trax and I love it but I will never buy another because of the messed up way you have to put the rear seats down. Really messed up.
GMA, the Trax is not built at the Bupyeong Plant but instead at the Changwon Plant. The Envista, TrailBlazer and Encore GX are built at the Bupyeong Plant.
