As GM Authority covered back in 2022, Recon Power Bikes has teamed up with GMC to offer a new Hummer EV-branded e-Bike packing prodigious torque and tons of grip – just like the all-electric Hummer EV off-roader from which it takes its name. Now, we’re getting a closer look at the electric all-wheel-drive Hummer EV e-Bike with the following GM Authority Live Photo Gallery.
Finished in contrasting black-and-white paint, this electric bike looks to be quite the complement to the white-and-black color scheme presented by the limited-run Edition 1 pickup.
The frame is thick, proudly displaying the Hummer EV logo, while the four-inch hybrid tires include molded-in puncture protection and look the part of an off-road-ready rig.
Complementing that off-road-readiness is a pair of 750 watt hub motors doling out more than 160 Nm (118 pound-feet) of torque. The two motors are juiced by a 48 volt, 17.5 Ah battery from LG (a 21 Ah upgrade is also available), while riders have three modes to choose from, including Cruise, which drives the rear wheel for maximum distance and minimum power consumption, Traction, which drives the front wheel and is recommended for loose terrain, and Adrenaline, which enables all-wheel drive for the most challenging terrain.
Range per charge is estimated at 40 to 50 miles in rear-wheel mode (depending on how much pedal assist is provided by the rider), with the maximum speed restricted to 20 mph from the factory. There’s also five levels of pedal assist, plus a removable thumb throttle. Further details include a color LCD display, front suspension, a Shimano nine-speed Alivio drivetrain, and four-piston hydraulic disc brakes with 203mm (eight-inch) rotors.
Pricing for Recon’s Hummer EV e-Bike starts at $3,999, per Recon’s website. To note, the front and back metal fenders, back rack, and front light are all included.

This is even dumber than the Hummer. So it’s a heavy, unnecessarily electric bicycle that works as neither a bicycle because of the weight (it weighs 95 pounds!!!), nor as a motorcycle because of the limited speed and range. It’s also going to be completely useless off road, difficult and expensive to repair and fire hazard once it gets left in the garage for the winter and forgotten about. And speaking of its weight, how many of the soy poisoned low-T owners is it going to take to lift that useless thing into the truck? LOL.
What insane cultists keep coming up with this stuff?
Not bad looking but who wants a bike that weighs 95 lbs. and costs $4k?
Another product for the elitist look at me crowd.
20 mph, bet that’s a deal breaker for most, let alone priced twice it’s worth.
20mph, I can easily do that peddling in 14th gear, and have 7 more gears should I want to go even faster.
All throttle operated bikes are required to be set at 20 mph but on pedal assist the bike will go over 30mph, these bike are built to be abused and they are used by most branches of the military and law enforcement.
Hope this thing sells better than the Hummer EV SUV. My dealer’s had one sitting on his front row for 3 weeks now. GM’s dumbest idea since aluminum blocks with cast iron heads. .
I build electric bikes, and mine are cool chopper style, class 2 UL bike with a 40mile range. My top speed is limited to 28mph to be able to use on bike paths, but a simple tweak of the computer lets it get to 40mph easily. That price is ridiculous!
The price is too much, yet worth it.
Wow! Guess that me working 60-70 hour work weeks running my business to be able to afford to buy my Hummer EV-1 makes me an elitist! Mmm, when I buy one of these fun bikes to go with my fun Hummer, will I be a double elitist? And Jim, I’m 67, and will have no problems putting this in the back of my Hummer! Bet I’m having more fun than you driving your Subaru Forester with the faded “Feel the Burn” bumper sticker on the back! 🙂
