Shane van Gisbergen won’t be the only Australian Supercars star to take on the Cup Series in 2024, as Brodie Kostecki has penned a deal to drive a NASCAR Chevy Camaro in multiple races next year, according to a report from Forbes.
Kostecki has signed on with Richard Childress Racing (RCR) to drive in select Cup Series races. In fact, Kostecki already has one start under his belt for the motorsports team, driving the No. 33 NASCAR Chevy, although he finished 22nd. RCR also played a large role in Kostecki’s championship-winning run in the 2023 Supercars season.
Richard Childress, owner of RCR, visited Australia to talk about sponsorship deals that would back Kostecki in the Cup Series next year.
“One of the reasons I am coming over is to possibly talk to a couple of the sponsors that were involved with us and see if we can get the sponsorship lined up and see if we can bring [Kostecki] over again,” Childress said. “I would like to run him in at least four, maybe five [races]. We have a few road courses, but would like to also run him in an oval over here.”
Previously, Kostecki raced in the ARCA Series in 2013 and 2014, his only experience to date on oval race tracks, although Childress would like to add more asphalt ovals to the Australian driver’s repertoire.
“Hopefully, we can race him two or three [times] on the road courses,” Childress said. “But I want to run him on an oval, he’s raced on them earlier in his career.”
It’s worth noting that Kostecki’s contract with his current Supercars team is set to expire upon conclusion of the 2024 racing season, leaving him open for a potential shift to fulltime NASCAR competition in 2025.

Good! I hope he does well.
I hope he does well too, but in Australia they only race once a month for an hour, any more than that they need a second driver while the main driver has a nap. Racing drivers in the USA race 800kms on Friday, for the truck race, then again Saturday 800kms for the Xfinity race, and, then Sunday another 800kms for the cup series, every week end, it may be too much to handle, he will definately need some energy drinks.
Van Gisbergen is from New Zealand.
