Several months after images of the model first leaked in China and made its global debut in the United States, General Motors has just officially announced the refreshed Cadillac CT5 in the Asian country.
SAIC-GM, the automaker’s main joint venture in China, announced the refreshed, locally built Cadillac CT5 – exclusive to the country’s domestic market. The automaker confirmed the imminent launch of the updated CT5 in the Chinese market, the region with the highest sales volume for both Cadillac and the midsize sedan internationally.
With only two official images of the Cadillac CT5 as a preview, the automaker presented the main changes introduced by the mid-cycle refresh to keep the vehicle current and strengthen its level of competitiveness in the Chinese market – where more than 200,000 units of the sedan have been sold so far since 2019. As such, the announcement includes an image of the exterior seen from the front and one of the redesigned cabin.
Aesthetically, the refreshed Chinese-built Cadillac CT5 is exactly the same as the North American-produced model with an updated front design boasting new headlights, a revised grille and a new lower bumper finish that will vary depending on the trim level. It highlights the new lighting signature that extends both vertically and horizontally, and includes larger main units that, together, give it an aggressive image.
For its part, the interior of the updated Cadillac CT5 adopts the brand’s latest technology and connectivity solutions with the new 33-inch immersive 9K Super Retina curved screen as the main protagonist, while introducing a new design for the upper portion of the dashboard to offer better integration and visibility. Additionally, the company claims improved material selection and an upgraded AKG audio system raise the level of refinement.
The refreshed Cadillac CT5 will be officially launched in the coming weeks in China, where the sedan is scheduled to go on sale early next year. Although SAIC-GM did not mention any details about its powertrains, the refreshed CT5 will maintain the 1.5L turbocharged engine with 155 kW or 208 horsepower, as well as the well-known 2.0L I4 LSY turbo engine that develops 174 kW or 233 horsepower; both mated to GM’s 10-speed automatic transmission.

China is GM’s test market it seems or they work faster than Americans???
They post about anything GM related, regardless of market. US, Brazil, China, etc. How is it targeted?
Looks like a cheap version of the 2019-2020 ct6. Still improvement over original ct5 at least.
I hope they plan on making the v variant more on par with the previous ats-v. Compared to that this one just seems like a boring underpowered Honda Accord.
The CT4 V Blackwing is on par with the ATS-V.
