Next-Gen 2024 Chevy Traverse Pricing Uncovered

The all-new 2024 Chevy Traverse launches the fully overhauled third generation of the Bow Tie crossover nameplate with new aesthetics, updated safety tech, better ergonomics, and the all-terrain Z71 trim level. Now, GM Authority has learned how much the new Traverse will cost in the United States.

While the trim level lineup has been reworked from the 2023 Chevy Traverse and the 2024 Traverse limited, MSRP plus destination freight charge (DFC) is notably higher for the 2024 Chevy Traverse on carryover trims, with price increases ranging from $3,080 to $9,155.

The third-gen all-new 2024 Chevy Traverse now has four available trim levels, including LS, LT, Z71, and RS. Three of the four trim levels have both FWD and AWD configurations, while the off-road capable Z71 trim level is offered with AWD only.

The lowest price in the lineup is the base LS trim with FWD, priced at $38,995 including DFC, while the highest starting price is $57,595 for the AWD configuration of the RS trim level. The table below provides an outline of 2024 Traverse pricing:

By contrast, the 2024 Chevy Traverse Limited continues the trim levels and prices of the 2023 model year until the third-gen crossover launches. The LS trim is priced at $35,915 for FWD and $37,915 for AWD, over $3,000 less than the new 2024 LS, while the Limited RS costs $46,440 with FWD and $48,440 with AWD, around $9,000 less than the third-generation RS.

Another significant trim level change includes discontinuation of the distinction between the LT Cloth and LT Leather trim levels. The 2024 Traverse offers the LT trim with cloth seat upholstery as standard. Evotex seat upholstery – that looks and feels like leather – is available as an option. Similarly, the new Z71 trim offers standard cloth and optional Evotex upholstery.

As a reminder, motivation is no longer provided by the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine, but by the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine rated at 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. Cog swaps are handled by the GM eight-speed automatic transmission.

Under the skin, the all-new Traverse is supported by a revised variant of the GM C1 platform‘s long-wheelbase configuration. Global B digital architecture is included in this platform.

Start of regular production (SORP) is scheduled for early 2024 at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.

  1. I was very interested in this new model. Unfortunaely, at $41K dealer BS for the FWD LT model, that is out of my budget for a Chevrolet. Its agreat looking crossover, but for those prices, I’d rather buy a Toyota. The comparably poor resale just kills the deal for me on high-priced domestic models.

    1. Buick City; outgoing LT FWD Cloth is $38k, outgoing LT FWD Leather is $42k.

      $41k for the new 2024 model isn’t a bad offering considering the features that are now standard on the new Traverse.

    2. I just priced out an RS at a dealer that we will likely order comparing to Ford, Jeep, Toyota and Honda the pricing seems to be pretty much in line option for option. The lowest is around $53k on the outdated Explorer and highest is about $60k the Grand Cherokee L. I would have liked to see the RS closer to $55k but it does have supercruise and a lot of other options standard. I would guess that option for option the pricing is right in line with the imports on the mid range models as well. There is typically a charge for every little option with them.

    3. This is the sad despicable trap domestic non truck vehicles are caught in. It’s this huge part of the auto market that thinks like this. The only way gm can break out of this hostile mindset which has existed for the past 45 years is to build attractive reliable vehicles while consistently keeping the market interested in their vehicles but not yield to overproduction. One other way is to destroy the unions to cut labor costs while maintaining build quality, or just off shoring manufacturing which really is a no go.

      1. What needs to happen is a mass reset of how cars are made and what consumers expect. This isn’t just a GM problem. A lot of the problem is the features that exist for cars now that technically don’t need to. Wireless charging, hands-free liftgates, push-button starts, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, tri-zone climate control, digital instrument clusters, and the ever-inflating size of the touchscreens, which can do WAY too much… And the list goes on. All this crap no one needs to have in their cars, and most of it comes standard. A lot of people don’t seem to get that it costs money to build and implement all these features, which should be exclusive to luxury brands.

        Under no circumstances should a mainstream brand’s three-row crossover cost 50k, even when fully loaded. The original Traverse was about 30 to start, and that’s STILL too much. But it’s less egregious than 50. The most important part of getting a car is getting the car. And you shouldn’t have to be stuck with the stripped-down base model that usually doesn’t even have a few nice things just to get a slightly digestible price.

        1. But loading all those electric bells and whistles is what they do to justify huge MSRP. Crossover market brings loads of cash for all auto makers and people are willing to pay huge money just to sit higher and have utility. I would love to buy Scion xB, Honda Element or Nissan Cube just for their utility, but they all gone. Kia Soul is the only one left, but it is on the way out too. I see people driving F-250 Platinum pickups as their daily commuters, marketers made sure so many men look weak, so they think driving an oversized pickup makes them masculine. No one needs these large crossovers or pickups. Families in Europe get by just fine driving Toyota Prius or VW Golf.

    4. I was thinking, for just $1,000, I can get a Mazda CX-90 with a standard turbo inline-6, standard rear-bias AWD, and standard radar cruise control. So I’m failing to see the value in getting the Traverse at this price now. Although the Turbo 4 is supposed to be more powerful than the base I6 on the CX-90. But the smoothness of the I6 can’t be beat by a 4-cylinder.

      1. I agree, the 4 cylinder will not be as smooth or get any better fuel mpg than the inline 6. Offering only one engine option is not the way. 2015 Malibu’s and Impala’s came with a base 2.5L and didn’t get any more mileage than the V6. I don’t care if you turbo it or supercharge it, a 4 cylinder doesn’t belong in a 3-row sized SUV.

        Just more of the ‘less is better’ economics. You get less, but pay more. I am sure that 328hp is glorious when the turbo spins up 🙂

  2. Toyota 2024 models are not priced any better. From their website, a base model Highlander is $39,000, a base model 4Runner is $40,455, and a base model tiny Rav4 is $29,000.

    1. That’s really probably the reason they increased the prices

      The 2.5 will be cheaper to build than the 3.6 “high feature” V6. Chassis is still the same. Just everyone else is charging an arm and a leg.

      At some point these prices must crash. People are buying these because they can’t afford suburban, now they can’t afford crossovers. Do car companies want to sell cars???

  3. So slapping an RS badge and swaths of black plastic all over the place somehow now defines a top tier model? With an eye watering 9K price increase to boot? The RS always used to be the budget priced mid level sporty model. How did this become the top trim? Where is the Premier or High Country trim? Any idea if your getting more std equipment in the LS and Lt trims for the 3K price increase?

    1. Joe, the 2024 RS AWD contains everything (plus some extra) as the outgoing Traverse Premier.

      Really the only item to add to a 2024 Traverse Premier or High County would perhaps be an upscale interior package.

      1. The RS now replaces the Premier and High Country. If you compare the new RS to the High Country, it’s only $2,200 more.

  4. I got a 23 Chevy Traverse High Country 4WD a few months ago for around 56 and that was the top trim with a couple options added such as the pearl white and black bow ties. I really can’t say I like the exterior of 24 traverse I really like the looks of the inside but definitely not the outside. I’m glad I went ahead and bought the 23. It’s very comfortable and easy to drive.

  5. Not the class of vehicle I’d be interested in, but those prices seem high.
    But, love the Limited idea. How ’bout an Equinox Limited for a few years since the new one will see similar increases to the Traverse, no doubt?

  6. Honestly, the pricing is right in line with the outgoing Traverse.
    Perception is the issue in my opinion.

    2024 AWD LT price is nearly the same as outgoing Traverse LT ($43k vs $44k).
    2024 AWD Z71 price is nearly the same as outgoing Traverse RS ($47k vs $48k).
    2024 AWD RS price is slightly more as outgoing Traverse High County ($57k vs $55k)

    2024 AWD LT has more features than outgoing Traverse LT.
    2024 AWD Z71 has more features than outgoing Traverse RS.
    2024 AWD RS has more features than outgoing Traverse High County. Only missing the slightly upscale interior.

      1. One thing that had me puzzled at first was I compared it to the Mazda CX-90 which has a turbo I6 base at 286 HP. And thought “man this is a rip off next to that.” But then I read the HP numbers on the Traverse turbo 4 and read 315 HP. And yes while the I6 may be smoother operating, I have a 2.0L Turbo in my XT5 and know GM is capable of making a peppy and smooth operating I4.

  7. The markup on option packages and styling upgrades is 10 to 1. Typical throughout the industry.
    If your paying $3000 for a “Trim Package” GM’s actual COST DIFFERENCE at the Plant between the Standard and “Premium” is + or – $300 . I’ve seen the numbers.

  9. Seems cheap to me. We bought a 2020 xt6 new for 62k. Honestly, this seems as nice. And for less 4 years later. Maybe I got screwed back in 2020.

  10. GM needs to offer an extended warranty on this new untried engine. At these new prices there are plenty of competitors that offer more value for less money. The beauty of a vehicle fades fast if it’s on the side of the interstate or in the shop. The controlled testing is different than what the consumers will do in the next five years.

  15. As much as I try to force myself to like the looks of the new Traverse, I just can’t force myself to like it. The rear side windows are hideous and the grill leaves much to be desired. I could live with the grill if the rear side window didn’t come with it. I currently own a 22 Traverse Premier in silver metallic which I think is a beautiful vehicle. I was really hoping to update to the new model, but I believe I’ll be going with the redesigned 24 Acadia over the 24 Traverse. Chevy missed on this one.

  17. I was getting my oil changed at the dealership and bought the 2020 Chevy Traverse RS off the showroom floor because it was super COOL looking. Black on black with the roof rack. Well not only cool looking but an amazing ride and lots of fun features like the secret compartment to hide stuff and excellent mileage. I don’t think the 2024 has the secret compartment but that is ok. I actually traded the Traverse in 2022 for a Honda Pilot AWD and I have missed it so much
    ! I will be getting the NEW TRAVERSE just need to pick a color 😉

  18. The 2024 RS is priced way to high considering GM reliability and when cross shopped with Toyota Grand Highlander Max Plat which has folding mirrors and more hp and tq.

  19. once again GM is missing their target – the new Traverse pricing is a big increase for a vehicle that typically does not hold it’s value like say the Honda Pilot or Toyota Highlander, plus it’s March and Chevy dealers still don’t have pricing – this launch is a mess.
