NASCAR Chevy Drivers Most Popular In 2023 Cup, Xfinity Series

NASCAR Chevy drivers won over the stock car racing fanbase in the Cup and Xfinity Series once again, as Chase Elliott and Justin Allgaier each earned the 2023 NMPA Most Popular Driver Award in their respective divisions.

Chase Elliott, driver of the No. 9 Chevy Camaro, clinched the Most Popular Driver title in the Cup Series for the sixth consecutive year. He’s one of only five drivers to have won the award five times or more in the division, following Richard Petty (8), Bobby Allison (8), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (15) and Elliott’s own father, Bill Elliott (16).

“I don’t ever take it for granted,” Elliott said, “You know, I think it’s an easy thing to look at and to think that I would, but always grateful for the honor and always, always grateful to have the support that we’ve had. Like I said on stage, this has always been, to me, an extension of my family’s place in the sport and the success that they had over the years.”

He added, “The fans have been great to all of us, not just myself but my entire family. So that’s kind of how I look at it and certainly respect it and appreciate all that they do for me, and I’m looking forward to seeing folks back on the road next year.”

Meanwhile, Justin Allgaier, driver of the No. 7 Camaro in the Xfinity Series, was voted Most Popular driver in his division. Previously, Allgaier earned the title in 2019 through 2021, but lost the throne to Noah Gragson in 2022. Allgaier’s victory marks the 12th consecutive year in which a driver for JR Motorsports, the Xfinity team owned by Earnhardt, has won the award.

Meanwhile, Hailie Deegan, driver of the No. 13 Ford F-150 race truck, was voted Most Popular Driver in the Truck Series.
