Here’s When 2025 Chevy Blazer EV Production Will Start

Back in June 2023, GM Authority reported that production of the inaugural 2024 model year of the Blazer EV had officially kicked off at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico. Now, GM Authority has learned when production of the 2025 Chevy Blazer EV is currently set to commence.

GM Authority has learned from sources familiar with the matter that the start of regular production (SORP) of the 2025 Chevy Blazer EV is currently scheduled to kick off on June 3rd, 2024. Meanwhile, production of the 2024 Blazer EV is expected to conclude on June 2nd, 2024.

Of course, it’s important to note that these dates are tentative in nature, and subject to change between the time of the writing and then. In addition, the Chevy Blazer EV SS is on its own timeline, currently set for a spring 2024 launch.

In other Blazer EV news, General Motors recently revealed the horsepower and torque figures for the sporty RS RWD trim level. As such, the current breakdown of the all-electric crossover’s lineup is as follows:

As a reminder, the Blazer EV rides on the GM BEV3 platform – which it shares with the Chevy Equinox EV and Cadillac Lyriq, among others – and is motivated by GM Ultium Drive motor and GM Ultium battery technologies.

As previously mentioned, production takes place at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico. Notably, the facility was pumping out 65 units of the electric crossover every hour as of July 2023.

  1. Under a stop sale now. GM can’t get their Ultium EVs right.

  2. It’s an infotainment software issue. Nothing really to do with them being EVs.

    1. What about the charging system failure (among other problems) that they were facing with the Edmunds vehicle, when it wasn’t even being charged?

    1. I’m with you there…my wife had a ’22 Blazer 2LT AWD with the 2.0L Turbo (we turned that lease in on a new Sierra). On the highway (75mph-80mph) we would consistently get over 30mpg. On the Blazer’s last trip, I drove it 950 miles from Massachusetts to Michigan. After about 550 miles, I stopped to fill the tank (somewhere in Western New York). After filling it up, my range indicator was telling me I had about 620 miles to empty. I drove the last 450 miles home and still had 1/4 tank to spare. To only have to fill up once on a nearly 1000 mile trip was crazy.

From my understanding, the 2LT Blazer EV could only get about 288 miles of range. Because you mostly charge to 80% in fast charging, that gives you a range of 230 miles. On that same 950 mile trip, I would have to stop AT LEAST 4-5 times to charge…it would have added hours to my 13 hour trip. No thanks GM, you can keep them for now. Time is still worth some money…when I can fully charge an EV in about the same time as I can fill a gas tank, you will have my attention. Until then, it is ICE for me.

  5. Yep stop sale for the Blazer EV and other newer GM EVs to iron out software glitches. Edmunds bought one for testing and had all manner of software and charging problems with their purchase, InsideEvs had one for a day which left them on the road. Good to see GM for once being proactive and seeking to fix the issues with a stop sale.

    1. Yes, good that GM is trying to figure out these issues, but honestly the customer shouldn’t be the guinea pig. New models are supposed to be tested thoroughly and have major issues corrected before hitting the market. A year ago, my wife and I were gung-ho on the Blazer EV. These days, not so much.
We got on the reservation list on opening day, a year and a half ago. We never did receive a call from our dealer with an opportunity to order. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise. We are considering asking for our $100 deposit back.

      1. Exactly me too. I have waited patiently now several years thinking they would be out more in full force with volt aging and never having owned a car this long. The EQ was the one I really wanted but then might settle for the blazer just cause EQ was big enough with the right range RWD. Now its all in the air. Also one of the reasons I did not get on the early list as I never bought the first year models but was keeping an open mind to do it this time just because of the long wait going on. I hope they really get this all resolved. I am wondering fi part of the problems is the wireless method they went to on the battery removing the had wire connections as I recall and if the “processing” to the brains of the car is whats causing some of the charging issues. i.e. if the car is not getting all its info timely in the central spot it starts shutting things down. This is all new tech too across the Lyriq and now Blazer and probably something they of course have no experience in programming/tracking/processing and might be what people are seeing as failures in charging and such getting stuck. I would like to think by owner or within its not some form of sabotoge. Patiently waiting. I know someone who loved the blazer but went with an ID 4 PRO.
