Here’s What We Expect From Buick In 2024

The 2023 calendar year is now coming to a close, which means a new year filled with possibility is just around the corner. That also means a new round of GM models, including several new vehicles from Buick. Now, we’re rounding up what we expect from Buick during the upcoming 2024 calendar year.

A prototype of the 2025 Buick Enclave.

2025 Enclave prototype

First up, the all-new 2025 Enclave is expected to debut early next year, ushering in the full-size crossover’s latest third generation. The next-gen Enclave is expected to introduce all-new sheetmetal, including a new front end design incorporating the Tri-Shield brand’s latest design language and new wheel options up to 22 inches in diameter. The interior will be overhauled as well, and will feature a large, curved screen serving as the gauge cluster and infotainment interface. The turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine is expected under the hood.

Electra E5

Then, during the Spring, look for the North American debut of the Electra E5. Initially offered in the Chinese market, the new Electra E5 is the brand’s first electric model based on GM Ultium battery and GM Ultium Drive motor technology, as well as the first Buick model to ride on the GM BEV3 platform. Pricing is expected to start around $50,000, with the range-topping Avenir likely priced around $70,000. Seating for up ti five passengers will be provided in the cabin.

GL8 Flagship Concept

Moving into the summer of 2024, GM will debut the all-electric Buick GL8 in China. Offered as a high-end, full-size MPV, the new GL8 EV is based on the GL8 Flagship Concept unveiled in 2021 at the Guangzhou International Motor Show in China. The fourth-generation GL8 recently launched in China in the Century trim level, while the upcoming GL8 EV will serve as the new range-topper of the lineup.

2024 Envision

Finally, the refreshed 2024 Envision is expected to launch late in 2024, per a GM Authority exclusive published earlier this month. Originally set for production this past October, production of the refreshed Envision was later pushed back to December. Production was then pushed back again to the first quarter of the 2024 calendar year, but now, it’s looking like the 2024 Envision won’t arrive before late 2024.

  1. According to the fifth paragraph, the Envision is a 2025 model instead if production will not start in late 2024 or is it a typo and meant 2023?

  2. All awesome models, and that GL8 is just beautiful. I wish it was coming here. Obviously Buick has a bright and profitable future.

  3. Waiting on the new Enclave to be able to decide between that and the new Traverse. Very impressed with the new Traverse so far.

    Reply
    1. In current generation, would you choose the Traverse or Enclave (based off pricing, ride, quietness of cabin, etc?) Your answer is likely to be the same. The Enclave has always been more refined (and more money) than the Traverse. This will not change with the new generation.

      1. And now there is a 3rd choice in this size with the 24 GMC Acadia!!
This may fill the bill for many who find the Buick too much and the Chevy just not enough

    2. I haven’t seen the specs on any of the new models. Enclave and Accadia both moved to shorter wheelbases a few years ago while Transverse stayed the same (longer now). For room and larger size I like the Traverse and the longer wheelbase should provide a better ride if optioned similar to the others.

      1. Only Acadia went to the shorter wheelbase.

      1. Yes! Make it RWD with an LS V8!

      2. Agree, Long Overdue, and we need a Grand Prix Replacement

  5. Will there be any changes to the Buick Electra E5 or will it be just the same as will have been out in China fur a couple years?

    1. Yese. I thought Buick had a couple EV’s in the works for 2024?

      1. Originally, they said one was a more or less conventional crossover and the other had a more “athletic” form. (See the photo of GM’s line-up from the 2021 Consumer Electronics Show.)

  6. The new Buicks are given the CCP Seal of Approval. Even the Enclave received the award. LOL.

  7. You wonder why Buick is in trouble sales wise? Why would anyone buy a 2024 Envision if it isn’t available until late 2024 when the 2025 model is right around the corner. Is GM stupid or what? They are doing their damnest to kill off Buick with this decision. So, no mainstream compact SUV most of next year and the new model Envision probably in mid 2024. They can’t survive just selling the sub compact Encore GX and Envista.

  8. Will Buick ever make true sedans again….or will I continue to be forced to buy from the other guys who do……….believe it or not, not every buyer wants an SUV or truck.

  9. They need a new designer ASAP

  10. The only way I will have another Buick in my garage again is if Buick makes a Lacrosse V6 ice engine made in the USA ,,if not ,, No Buick .. Mary is following the steps of our corrupt moron disrupted president, GM will fall just like him …

    1. When did the president become involved in Buick
      Production!!

  11. Buick dealers in the US are dropping like flies. I see nothing to turn the tide.

They should’ve named the Envista the Skyhawk. Seems fitting. A terrible budget car styled for the times that will age badly.

  12. I want Buick to make sedans again like the Buick Lucerne luxury car and touring ride. I do not want a crossover or suv and to get a full size sedan I will be forced to go to a foreign car which I do not want to do. GM is killing the
US sedan market while others make them.

  13. That buick electra E5 is nice !

  14. Yawn, nothing appealing what so ever. How about a new turbo GN and some sporty sedans? Looks like I’ll be purchasing used from now on and none of them will be EV.

  15. Currently using a 2017 Buick Enclave Premier all-wheel drive to tow a travel trailer, utilizing the towing package with a total towing capacity of 4500 lbs. With in mind, I’m looking for the new Buick Enclave V6 gasoline with a 5,000 lbs. towing capacity. Any chance Buick will continue with a gas engine all-wheel drive towing package available?

  16. Buick has one HUGE problem; RESALE value

  17. Buick needs to get back in the car business. My 2017 LaCrosse with the 3.6 L engine is a great car with lots of power and great handling and a touring ride. My car is now 6 years old and I’m looking to purchase a replacement but there’s nothing from GM available. Caddy is trying to power a “luxury” car with a 4 banger 2L engine that will get you run over trying to merge or pass.
I’m looking at Lexus to replace my Buick Lacrosse. I’ve never bought a foreign car but GM leaves me no other choice.

  18. The folks running GM have list their minds. They used to have a “build it and they will come” mentality. Nowadays, they have a “build ONLY what the bean counters say and they will be FORCED to come”. The last straw for me was when they killed the Tour X and went to an SUV only platform. My next car will be foreign.

  19. Wishing we would get updated Regal. Buick previously split sales between Lacrosse and Regal, but going with one strong sedan would increase sales.
Even benchmarking high riding Toyota Crown–a almost SUV–would probably attract sales.

  20. Waiting on them to start building them in the USA again instead of supporting China.
