Representing the fourth model year of Big Red’s fifth-generation full-size SUV, the 2024 GMC Yukon and 2024 GMC Yukon XL feature just a few updates over the 2023 model year. Today, we’re taking a closer look at 2024 GMC Yukon towing capacities in the following GM Authority breakdown.
For starters, here’s a review at the Yukon’s powertrain lineup. Engine choices consist of the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
All three powerplants are managed by the GM 10-speed automatic transmission, while both RWD and 4WD drivetrains are available. All trim levels, regardless of drivetrain configuration, utilize a 3.23 axle ratio.
With that covered, here’s the breakdown of 2024 GMC Yukon towing capacities:

Meanwhile, a 2024 Yukon XL can pull a maximum of 8,300 pounds when configured in a similar fashion as its shorter-wheelbase cousin.
As a reminder, the GMC Yukon and GMC Yukon XL ride on the GM T1 platform, which they share with the Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Suburban, Cadillac Escalade, and Cadillac Escalade ESV. Production of the 2024 model year officially kicked off in November 2023 at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

I thought they upped the power on the diesel for 24 295hp and 495tq??
It is, poor editing
The updated LZ0 diesel with 305hp & 495 lb-ft will be in the 2025 models. The 2024 LM2 diesel is the same as the 2021-2023 models. My 2024 diesel has the 277hp & 460 lb-ft
If the Yukon can survive on a 277 HP Diesel why does the Escalade IQ start at 750 HP ?
Needs 3.73 gears
Needs optional 3.42 axle
