Standing as the fourth model year of the Bow Tie brand’s fifth-gen full-size SUV, the 2024 Chevy Tahoe introduces a select few updates for the new model year before the 2025 mid-cycle refresh arrives on the scene. Today, we’re taking a closer look at 2024 Chevy Tahoe towing capacities.
Before we begin, here’s a quick look at the Tahoe’s powertrain lineup. Engine options include the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
The GM 10-speed automatic transmission manages all powerplants, while both 2WD and 4WD are on offer. All trim levels, regardless of drivetrain configuration, utilize a 3.23 axle ratio.
With that covered, here’s the breakdown of 2024 Chevy Tahoe towing capacities.

It’s worth noting that the optional Max Trailering Package (RPO code NHT) includes the Advanced Trailering Package content, the Enhanced cooling radiator, and on 4WD LS, LT, and RST units, a two-speed transfer case.
Looking over the numbers, we find that the maximum a 2024 Tahoe can pull is 8,400 pounds when configured with 2WD, the L84 V8 engine, and the Max Trailering Package. Interestingly, the lowest-rated 2024 Tahoe can tow 7,600 pounds when configured with 4WD and the L87 V8 engine, but without the Max Trailering Package.
Notably, these figures are unchanged from the 2023 Chevy Tahoe ratings.
As a reminder, the Chevy Tahoe rides on the GM T1 platform, which it shares with the Chevy Suburban, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade, and Cadillac Escalade ESV. Production of the 2024 model year officially kicked off in November 2023 at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.
