The Corvette ZR-1 nameplate (both with and without the dash, depending on the generation) has been used for decades to denote a high-performance variant of America’s Sports Car, enticing enthusiasts with extra go-faster goodies and an aura of exclusivity. That includes the C4-generation Corvette ZR-1 produced between 1990 and 1995. Now, this gorgeous low-mileage example is up for grabs, listed for sale with a bit over 12,000 miles on the clock.
Offered by RK Motors Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina, this C4 Corvette ZR-1 is finished in black paint, matched with a black leather interior. The aggressive body lines and wide tires give the machine a mean look, while the polished five-spoke wheels shine brightly under bulging fenders.
Tilting the hood forward, we find the naturally aspirated 5.7L V8 LT5 gasoline engine. Designed by Lotus with input from GM, the ZR-1’s LT5 was installed as a replacement for the L98 V8 equipped by the standard C4, featuring four overheat camshafts, 32 valves, and a unique air management system. Maximum output when new was rated at 375 horsepower at 5,800 rpm and 370 pound-feet of torque at 4,800 rpm, a considerable increase over the standard C4’s 245 horsepower and 345 pound-feet of torque. Properly unleashed, the 1991 Corvette ZR-1 was capable of sprinting to 60 mph in less than five seconds on the way to a top speed nearing 180 mph.
The 1991 Corvette ZR-1’s FX3 suspension was also pretty trick. Engineered by Bilstein, the FX3 suspension incorporated gas-over-oil shocks with six adjustable damping settings and three driving modes, which were adjusted by servomotors and a microprocessor for a customizable driving experience – a rather advanced feature for the time.
Now, this gorgeous low-mile 1991 Corvette ZR-1 is for sale, priced at $45,900. Considering the condition, there’s no doubt this ride would make a fine addition to any Vette lover’s collection.

The ZR from this era is a problem.
The LS cars were faster and less complicated on a better platform.
Parts are very expensive or just hard to get in some cases.
A lot of people put these away thinking they would get rich. Well now they are trying to unload them and auctions are trying to talk them up. Yet still they are not worth much. About twice a nice C4 but that is still not much.
