GM’s Duncan Aldred Shows Off The GMC Sierra EV Denali

With the 2024 GMC Sierra EV set to officially launch in Summer 2024, it’ll be some time until we see Big Red’s all-electric pickup truck out on public roads. However, pre-production units can sometimes be spotted running around before full-scale production begins, as evidenced in a recent post to social media.

Buick and GMC Global Vice President Duncan Aldred showed off photos of a GMC Sierra EV Denali in front of the Townshend Hotel in Birmingham, Michigan in a post to his LinkedIn profile. “The holiday lights shine bright,” said Aldred as he compares the electric pickup’s front-end lighting to the festive season’s traditional illuminated decorations.

Painted in Meteorite Metallic (color code GNO), GM Authority has actually spotted this example before. However, we captured photographs of this Sierra EV in the daylight, as opposed to Aldred’s nighttime post. Our photos highlight the all-electric truck’s bright silver trim pieces, along with the black GMC badge up front.

Moving around to the side, we find black window trim, as well as black mirror caps. The door handles are color-matched, while the two-tone wheels provide a tasteful contrast to the Meteorite Metallic paint.

On the interior, a 16.8-inch diagonal infotainment screen sits front and center. Notably, this is the largest screen ever fitted to a Sierra model.

As a reminder, the 2024 GMC Sierra EV is powered by GM Ultium Drive motor and GM Ultium battery technologies, which help develop 754 horsepower and 758 pound-feet of torque while providing an estimated 400 miles of range on a single charge. Meanwhile, the batteries can gain up to 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes on a DC fast charger.

Under the skin lies the GM BT1 platform, while production will take place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan and the GM Lake Orion plant in Michigan. It’s worth noting that production at the latter plant has been delayed.

  2. The best looking truck period.

    1. Yes but it only looks like a truck. It doesn’t actually do any truck things and no truck guy who needs a truck is gonna buy one. And the back of it looks like a Ridgeline.

      1. It will do Truck things. When you need to do Truck things. Also stop comparing these to ridgelines, GM did it first with the Avalanche.

  4. It’s Thunderstorm Gray for GMC and 1 of 2 Sierra Denali EV. I saw it at the Indy Motor Speedway last month. Meteorite is for Hummer.

  6. I would take the Silverado. I see too much F-150 in this. The interior screen and taillights are straight f-150

  7. How much does Mr Allred make a year to blow smoke up the public’s posterior? Less than 5 % of the driving public would even entertain looking at this electrical nightmare. I’m 72, know hundreds of people, except for my oldest son and oldest grandson, they have Teslas, NO ONE wants them. (BTW my son and grandson are the nerd/geeks who wait in front of the Apple store when they introduce a new phone).
So much information is missing on these EV’s. No One ever talks about the distance when someone has a heavy foot, Extreme heat or cold conditions are never considered. What about the electric motors? They have bearings, brakes , how much to repair them. And what about when an 8 year old EV is on the used car lot/ Who’s going to buy one with aprox 2 years of functional battery, then…………the five diget replacement. (For millennials that’s a $10,000 repair).
There’s so many reasons to not own an EV. Where do apartment renters or condo owners set up their connections?
Mark My Words here; Next year this time, the GM Authority column will explain the reason why so many lay-offs and production cancellation. The problem is, there are no “Car People” running car companies.
A story today, GM Is buying back 1/2 the Buick dealers because they don’t want to sell electrics. They sell cars. They know their buying public. They know this EV Craziness will be “Short-circuited” This will Bury the auto industry. Get a clue here people. Go to Bring-a-Trailer see what is selling . Classic rebuilt vehicles, 72 Chevy Blazer sold for $95,000. People won’t pay that for your pile of plastic and Chinese Circuit boards.
I could go on, but this is enough for now

    1. at 72 you are not considered a customer by anyone but the medical industry and aarp. sorry to have to break it to you but car companies (and mostly everything else) does not design nor market things with you in mind. your life is over, your days of consumerism are done. you ranting about things you will never buy is completely irrelevant.

its the same as me complaining about ferarri. ill never buy one, so why would it matter. thats why i dont complain about it. yet so many people feel entitled to cry about things they have nothing to do with. companies know that. im just letting you know that because i dont blow smoke

the electrical motors are literally one of the most reliable components ever made by man. those things run underwater, on mars, on the moon, in vacuum. so yes, just complaining at random. enjoy your sunshine years

      1. Now why would you want to bring this to a personal level? I know, it’s obvious you’re a DEI hire.
Have no response except insults (hope you don’t Un-Friend or cancel me). You addressed nothing I said except for electric motors, Let’s review. I’m 72, one foot in the casket according to you, and I’m one buyer. Still millions of “Boomers” who will never buy one of these electronic nightmares.
Didn’t address the true “mileage” of the EV’s in extreme weather?
Didn’t address how people who don’t live at the country club will have service?
Didn’t address the 8 yr old “Used-up” EV on the used car market?
Didn’t address the replacement cost of the batteries? or motors?
Didn’t tell how much GM will shell out to Buy 50% of the Buick dealers?
Didn’t address why 1/2 the Buick dealers would rather bail than sell Junque EV’s?
Didn’t address what happens in a year when this article reports a dismal failure this was?
And your Ferrari analogy, pathetic. Ferrari is not out to change the world of my choice of vehicle.
I hope I wake up to make a purchase tomorrow. I have 9 vehicles, classics and some GM Sleepers.
My newest vehicle is a 2015 Silverado with 8ok miles. I know I have to dump it before 100k when all the Chinese plastic circuits take down the truck for a costly visit to the dealer (built in sabotage).
Seeking out a Cherry 85-91 Blazer, with no “Service engine Soon” light to ever come on!!
And Mr LOL, we never addressed the infrastructure where all this free electricity will come from.
Don’t expect any answers, you’re not equipped.

  10. Is this really going to get 400 miles of range? I’m thinking more like 300-320. Put a trailer on it and……….well, we all know what happens to the Lightning when it hauls loads around.
