GM Hires David Massaron As New Chief Economic Development And Real Estate Officer

GM has named David Massaron as the new chief economic development and real estate officer, reporting to GM executive vice president for legal, policy and cybersecurity and corporate secretary, Craig Glidden. Massaron will assume his new role effective January 2nd, 2024. Massaron previously served in several roles with the City of Detroit.

Per a recent report from The Detroit News, Massaron joins General Motors from Wayne State University, previously serving as the university’s chief business officer, chief financial officer, and treasurer for the board of governors. Massaron also brings experience as the chief financial officer with the City of Detroit, as well as the chief operating officer and senior counsel to Detroit City Major Mike Duggan. Additionally, Massaron served as principal at the Miller Canfield law firm between 2007 and 2014, and initially launched his legal career at Dickenson Wright.

The Detroit News also indicates that Massaron serves as board chair at Detroit Equity Inc., as well as serving on the board of directors for the Regional Transit Authority of Southeast Michigan, the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, and the Downtown Detroit Partnership.

“David’s unique experience serving in Michigan across the State, City of Detroit and the private sector will be invaluable to the work GM is doing in our hometown and across the many communities where we live and work,” said GM executive vice president for legal, policy and cybersecurity and corporate secretary, Craig Glidden.

Over the summer, General Motors announced that it was appointing Norm de Greve as the company’s new senior vice president and chief marketing officer. De Greve assumed his new role in July, reporting to GM President Mark Reuss. Prior to joining General Motors, de Greve served as chief marketing officer at CVS Health, a position that he had held since 2015.

Back in June, General Motors announced that it would appoint Lin-Hua Wu as the company’s new senior vice president and chief communications officer. Wu assumed her new position in August, reporting to GM Chair and CEO Mary Barra. Wu joined General Motors with experience in the corporate, agency, and tech sectors.
