GM revealed the all-new 2026 Cadillac Vistiq just a few weeks ago, expanding the luxury marque’s portfolio with an all-new, all-electric three-row crossover. Notably, General Motors originally had another name in mind for the three-row Caddy EV.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the original name that GM planned for the all-electric three-row Caddy crossover was actually Cadillac Symboliq.
Of course, GM Authority has followed the development of Caddy’s new all-electric three-row crossover for quite some time now. As GM Authority was the first to report in 2020, GM originally filed to register the Symboliq and Cadillac Symboliq names with the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property on July 22nd, 2020. Previously, the new three-row EV was one of the three Cadillac electric vehicles outlined in the GM 2019 Sustainability Report.
Since that 2020 GM Authority report, GM abandoned the Symboliq name as of May 7th, 2021. A few months later, in November of 2021, General Motors filed to trademark the name Vistiq with the United States Patent and Trademark office, as GM Authority was once again the first to report.
The Cadillac Vistiq name stuck, and now, the luxury automaker has a new three-row crossover in its portfolio. Debuting as Cadillac’s fifth fully electric model, the Cadillac Vistiq slots in between the Cadillac Lyriq and Cadillac Escalade IQ with regard to the brand’s EV lineup. Although the full official details on the new Vistiq are still forthcoming, photos of the vehicle’s exterior reveal a 600E4 badge on the rear lid, which indicates the presence of an all-wheel drivetrain producing roughly 600 Nm of torque (or 450 pound-feet) per Cadillac’s naming conventions. Given the all-wheel-drive Lyriq wears the same 600E4 badge, one could assume the Vistiq is also equipped with a dual GM Ultium Drive motor setup rated at 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque.
Further technical details likely include rear-wheel steering, while the exterior shows styling cues taken from the all-electric Cadillac Escalade IQ, as well as 22-inch wheels and flush-mounted door handles.

This IQ naming always reminds me of the movie Zoolander and the Derelicte clothing line.
….Apathetiq.
Imagine…their acronym could have been LOSE instead of LOVE. 😄
Ick.
There was a LISP company in the early 80’s called symbolics. Not a trademark issue anymore, but maybe they wanted to avoid the name anyway to avoid association with a failed software company.
Even though SYMBOLIQ had some type of meaning, VISTIQ sounds better for a vehicle which also have meaning behind it which stands for energetic, charismatic, ambitious and focused if you search the correct spelling – vistic.
Fantastiq.
Either one of these names is stupid. I know GM is afraid of seeming old, but their traditional names would have been more desirable. Perhaps from other GM models.. Like Nomad, or perhaps,Mako. No one under the age of fifty would recognize those names . They would be new to them.
They’re not using Vega anymore are they?
Wagoniq deVille or Wagon Sixty Specialiq?? Or Fleetwoodiq deWgonay perhaps? Mybrainiq isiq twistediq hereiq and itiq hurtsiq. Stop itIQ.
Uglystiq !

JUST WHEN CADILLAC FINALLY TURNED THE CT4 AND CT5 INTO ATTRACTIVE DESIRABLE AUTOMOBILES YOU COME OUT WITH THE CELESTIQ, A CAR THAT WILL REPLACE THE PONTIAC AZTEC AS THE UGLIEST GM PRODUCT EVER. HOW COULD ANYONE WITH EYES AND A BRAIN BEGIN TO THINK THIS HIDEOUS MESS OF METAL IS ATTRACTIVE? THE RIDICULOUS NAME AND LIME GREEN PAINT JOB WERE THE COUP DE GRACE.
Add the Mystiq. Van Morrison can sing the jingle about getting into one.
How about giving the vehicle to Buiq as an Eleqtra Parq Avenue? This isn’t a Cadillac.
Good one!
