In 2023, the Cheyenne Brigade celebrated the 13th anniversary of its operations, and the automaker took advantage of the occasion to outline the significant impact that the program has had since its initial launch at the end of 2010. This GM Mexico social responsibility project consists of the transportation of construction materials, raw materials and humanitarian aid to vulnerable communities with difficult access, in order to contribute to their sustainable development.

“For General Motors of Mexico, supporting the communities where we have operations is of vital importance,” said Communications and Public Relations Director of GM Mexico, Tere Cid. “Cheyenne Brigade was born in 2010 to provide aid in the face of natural disasters, being the first event in Coahuila, due to the havoc that Hurricane Alex left in the communities and, since then, it has been part of an initiative that has benefited more than 25 states in all of Mexico,” she added.

During its first 13 years of activities, the Cheyenne Brigade has traveled more than 700,000 kilometers or 435,000 miles in which it has been able to benefit some 730,000 people in vulnerable situations, mainly due to emergencies and natural disasters. In fact, the program helped more than 315 communities in the country in alliance with approximately 60 non-profit institutions.

In addition, starting this year, the Cheyenne Brigade has extended its collaboration by supporting the construction of housing in the state of Puebla, in collaboration with the Social Action of the Anáhuac University (ASUA). It has also been dedicated to the mobilization of 2,383 hives in the town of Santiago Jocotepec, Oaxaca, to achieve the production of 114 tons of organic honey in collaboration with the NGO Miel Solidaria Campesina.

GM’s Cheyenne Brigade continues to expand its operations throughout the territory of Mexico to improve the living conditions of Mexican families, putting at their service the notable off-road virtues of the Chevy Cheyenne ZR2, which is able to reach any part of the country that needs it. The program has a fleet of specially identified full-size pickup units that’s dedicated exclusively to social aid activities.
