Chevy Silverado EV Recalled For Loose Front Seat Belt Bolt

General Motors has released a safety recall for certain units of the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV due to an issue related to loose front seat belt bolts.

The problem: affected vehicles may be equipped with a left or right front seat that includes a seat belt buckle attachment bolt that may not have been tightened to spec by the seat supplier.

The hazards: if the seat belt buckle attachment bolt is not tightened to spec, the seat belt may not perform as intended in certain crash conditions, thus increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

The fix: in order to fix this issue, a certified GM technician will be instructed to tighten the left and right front seat belt buckle attachment bolts to the specified torque value. This process may include removal of the front seats so that technicians can access the seat belt buckle bolts.

Affected components: seat belt buckle attachment bolt. No additional parts are required for this repair.

Affected vehicles: 2024 Chevy Silverado EV.

Number of affected vehicles: It’s currently unclear how many units of the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV are affected by this recall. However, the recall also affects certain units of the GMC Hummer EV Pickup and Hummer EV SUV.

Owners should: General Motors will notify owners of affected vehicles and instruct them to make an appointment with their local GM dealer. Additionally, owners who may be unsure as to whether or not their vehicle is affected by this recall can visit my.gm.com/recalls, where they can type in their VIN to search for any open recalls or other actions that may be active on their vehicle.
