The Kia EV6, the Ioniq 5’s corporate cousin and platform mate, placed sixth with a 30 percent uptick to 6,470 units, while the Hyundai Ioniq 6 sedan took seventh with 5,073 deliveries. The Nissan Ariya placed eighth with 4,504 deliveries, the Subaru Solterra took ninth place with 2,791 deliveries, followed by the related Toyota bZ4X, which moved 1,896 units. Note that the Solterra and bZ4X were developed jointly and share the same platform. Meanwhile, Nissan’s other entry and longest-running model here, the Leaf, saw 1,570 sales. Finally, newcomer Chevy Blazer EV (see running Chevy Blazer EV sales) posted 19 deliveries for its debut quarter.

The mainstream EV segment accounted for 75,372 deliveries during Q3 2023, growing a solid 76 percent year-over-year.
The three Chevy models compete in the mainstream electric vehicles (EV) passenger cars segment, in which we currently include all mainstream (non-luxury) BEVs including crossovers, hatchbacks, and sedans. As more EVs enter the market, there will enough similar vehicle types competing against each other to warrant a specific segment. At that time, we will break these out for more specific sales comparisons. Beyond the mainstream EV segment being discussed here, the remaining EV segment is the premium EV market that contains models from Tesla, Audi, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lucid, Cadillac, Jaguar and Genesis. Accordingly, we are not including Tesla models in the mainstream EV passenger car segment sales analysis, since they are premium/luxury models.
It’s also worth noting that Hyundai and Kia offer electric vehicles that also include variants with an internal combustion engine (ICE) and/or hybrid (HEV) and/or plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version. That includes the Hyundai Kona and Hyundai Ioniq (without a number), along with the Kia Niro. Consequently these models do not offer a direct comparison to the Chevy models. As a result, these particular Hyundai and Kia models are now no longer included in our analysis. A related Hyundai model, the similarly named Ioniq 5, is all-electric, replacing the original Ioniq. While the Ioniq 5 is a crossover the similarly named Ioniq 6 is an all-electric sedan.
The GM Authority Take
Although Chevy Blazer EV sales have just begun, it’s already been named the 2024 MotorTrend SUV of the Year. Consequently we expect sales to take off about as fast as the upcoming Chevy Blazer EV SS once more units start hitting dealer lots.
Like any model, sales can be impacted by inventory supply, but fortunately levels of the Chevy Blazer EV appear to be rising. As exclusively reported by GM Authority, of mid-November, 287 units of the all-electric crossover had been delivered in the United States thus far with 1,205 more units set to arrive at dealerships prior to the end of November. Furthermore, at least 4,000 units of the Blazer EV are either on the ground or en route, according to the inventory search tool on Chevy’s website.
We look forward to seeing how the Blazer EV performs in the sales department, now that customers have begun to take delivery. We also wonder have to wonder whether the internal combustion-powered Chevy Blazer even has a future, as all indicators point to 2025 being its last model year.
About Chevrolet Blazer EV
In July 2022, the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV made its official debut, ushering in the Bow Tie’s mass-market midsize battery electric crossover. Headlined by a maximum GM-estimated range of 320 miles from a full charge, the Chevy Blazer EV will be available in front-, rear- and all-wheel drive configurations, while the trim level lineup will include 1LT, 2LT, RS, and Blazer EV SS, along with a Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) model for law enforcement, making it the quickest police package ever offered by Chevy.
The first two trim levels on sale are the Chevy Blazer EV 2LT AWD and RS AWD, but the upcoming RS RWD will include a higher capacity battery pack than these trim levels.
The Bow Tie brand is even bringing back a Super Sport model with the first-ever 2024 Chevy Blazer EV SS. A standard performance AWD propulsion configuration delivers up to 557 horsepower and 648 pound-feet of torque in the crossover, enabling a zero to 60 mph time of under four seconds in the Wide Open Watts (WOW) acceleration setting. Additional performance-focused features include a specific sport-tuned chassis and Brembo front brakes.
The Chevy Blazer EV is among NACTOY’s “Best of 2024” list, being among the 25 vehicles advancing to the finalist round of the 30th annual North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards and one of 10 semifinalists for 2024 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year.
On a side note, the Chevy Blazer EV doesn’t include free home charging station installation like select buyers of the Chevy Bolt EV and Bolt EUV get.
Another entry to this space is the 2024 Honda Prologue, which officially debuted as a Chevy Blazer EV rival in September. Ironically, the first-ever Prologue is underpinned by GM electric vehicle technology, including the GM BEV3 platform, GM Ultium Drive motors and a GM Ultium battery pack – all of which are used by the Blazer EV. Even more interesting is that Honda announced just a month later to cancel plans to co-develop affordable EVs with GM.

Customers love the Blazer. Until, they find out it’s electric. The styling is really nice. If GM really thought EV’s were the future, they would have their representatives driving them. However, they don’t want them wasting time at charging stations on their dime. If it doesn’t work for GM, why would it work for anyone else. What are GM reps driving? Trucks and SUV’s with 6.2 V8’s and diesel’s.
The Era of the 6.2 V8 is over for Retail, a commercial driver may have a need for the 6.2 V8 in a Truck or large SUV.
STLA has the right idea with the Hybrid Ram Charger PK and it long range. The Chevy Blazer should be fully electric and also Hybrid with a small 3 or 4 cyl engine and a smaller battery pack, same thing with the Silverado a fully electric, a Hybrid with a 4 Cyl, and Heavy Duties with ICE power including V8s.
What is a “GM Rep”??
District and Regional sales, service, and financial managers for General Motors.
Great look vehicle… Much better looking then the Ford Mach E! Now wait for the lower trim levels to come out.
Up early, sawr this, fell asleep again.
The thing I would be hesitant about larger engined (5.7 and 6.2 Liter) GM products is the currently named DFM. They simply cannot seem to make a reliable product that will not require Lifter overhaul. The cost of the repair is much higher than any fuel savings.
This is just another reason why I purchase GM plug-ins.
Bill Howland I think the problem with the 5.7 and 6.2 is that GM just keeps updating these engines with each generation instead of making a whole new engine or use newer parts. Besides I think soon GM will come out with something more fuel efficient Ford has basically given up on the V8 in its F150 ICE.
That’s nice but if you need a vehicle today and you buy one of these engines it is YOU who is stuck paying for the repairs.
Although there is a lot of info in this article, it is misleading because it states that Teslas are luxury vehicles and do not compete with the vehicles listed. In fact, almost all Teslas sold today are Model 3 and Y, which compete directly with the listed vehicles.
I hope It comes to Brazil with reasonable price … unfortunately the Silverado came too expensive…..
