Cadillac XT5, XT6 And Lyriq Production Down One Week In January 2024

Three of GM’s Cadillac brand models – the Cadillac XT5, Cadillac XT6, and Cadillac Lyriq – will see their production halted for an additional week in January 2024, beyond the ordinary Christmas week production pause, according to the latest reports.

Four plants in GM’s production lineup, including the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee that produces the Cadillac XT5, XT6, and Lyriq, will be kept off-line for maintenance during the first week of the new year, Automotive News said in a recent article.

The extra downtime will end on January 8th, 2024 when all four plants will resume normal operations. Notably, these facilities will also be closed during the week of December 25th, though this is true of all North American GM plants because of contractual provisions calling for a Christmas week halt over the holidays.

Several other plants will also see extra downtime because of a variety of factors. The longest will be the GM Lake Orion Assembly plant in Michigan, where production of the Chevy Bolt EV and Chevy Bolt EUV just ceased. The planned retooling for production of Chevy Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV electric pickup trucks has been pushed back to 2025, leading to the layoff of 945 workers, starting on January 15th, 2024.

As a reminder, the 2024 Cadillac XT5 may be the final model year of the luxury crossover nameplate in North America. China will get a next-generation XT5, however, and while The General is studying the possibility of bringing this all-new version of the XT5 to the U.S. market, there are no definite plans to do so at this point in time.

The 2024 Cadillac XT6 is not known to be on the chopping block like the Cadillac XT5 following the current model year, but did not receive a mid-cycle refresh as might be expected for a nameplate that has remained largely unchanged other than a few minor updates and changes since its 2020 debut.

Meanwhile, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq, produced alongside the Cadillac XT5 and XT6 at Spring Hill, is the second model year of the luxury brand’s first-generation crossover EV and introduces the new Tech trim level along with five new exterior paint colors, alloy wheels, new interior colorways, and various new technologies.

  2. Hey GM ; Do Not stop producing the XT5
This is a great vehicle and we have two of them.
The electric cars you are producing are full of problems that few want. Dealers have told me that you are forcing them to take Lyrics that they don’t want and neither do their customers. Keep the ice XT5, don’t cave to the extreme left.
