We here at GM Authority have covered more than a few high-speed car chases involving various GM vehicles, and typically, the chase only ends after police perform a PIT maneuver that sends the fleeing vehicle pirouetting out of control. Sometimes, it even catches fire. It’s a dangerous move to be sure, which begs the question – is there an alternative to the PIT maneuver? Well, as the alleged carjackers in the Chevy Camaro featured in this video found out, there is.
The short video was posted to X by Sheldon Fox, a TV journalist for FOX-affiliate WSVN 7 in Miami. Clocking in at a little under 30 seconds, the video shows a police chase as captured by the dash cam on a police cruiser. According to the video overlay, the incident occurred on Tuesday, December 26th, around 4:50 p.m. local time.
The video opens on a residential street, with the sun sinking low behind some buildings. We see a police Chevy Tahoe blocking half the road ahead, while a Cadillac XT5 blocks the other lane.
As the video gets underway, the police cruiser with the dash cam quickly maneuvers around the Tahoe and the XT5. Up ahead, we see a yellow Chevy Camaro crash into the sidewalk, sideswiping a fence and tearing off the rear bumper in the process. As the Chevy Camaro rejoins the road, the police cruiser accelerates, placing the front end of the police vehicle in line with one of the Camaro’s rear tires before colliding with the Chevy’s damaged rear end.
As the Camaro starts to pull away, we see a long cable unwind from behind it, and before long, the line is pulled taut and the Chevy is quickly brought to a stop. Additional police officers pull up as the individuals in the Chevy Camaro stick their hands out the window.

Car theft is a huge problem. And really how can it be justified on any level? Penalties need to be increased substantially. Horse thievery used to get you hanged. How about we just make it you lose your license to drive forever. And if you get caught again, implant a pacemaker that gives you a reminder if you even get in a car again.
That’s shocking!
Johnathan, consider a different profession. You can’t be a liberal puke and call them ” alleged ” carjackers in a stolen camaro.
I won’t explain it to you !
Those punks all need about 10 years in prison! Not juvenile either! Their parents needs a couple of years too!! When the parents start getting jail time you’ll see better citizens out there. Stop coddling the criminals in our society.
Great concept. On another note, if you don’t say “alleged” you can screw up the ability to convict the perp. So, shut your trap when you don’t know what your talking about.
Take a club smash their collar bone. Track them for ten years then steal their car and trash it.
For sure, “alleged” dude can’t drive and stud maneuver by police.
If you cant outrun a Tahoe with a Camaro you either have piss poor driving skills or a really slow Camaro.
True
Great job by the Police.
