Ushering in the sixth model year of the truck nameplate’s fifth generation, the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 debuts only a handful of updates and changes from the 2023 Sierra 1500. For the second model year after the 2022 mid-cycle refresh, the pickup’s paint color lineup lost two colors and gained two indirect replacements.
Now, GM Authority has learned that the Elevation trim level of the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 has dropped availability of one color as of November 2023 production.
The Downpour Metallic (color code GXP) exterior paint color is no longer available on the Elevation trim level, at least as far as current production is concerned. The color continues to be offered on several other trim levels including the base Pro. SLE, SLT, Denali, and range-topping Denali Ultimate trims.
Downpour Metallic is normally an extra-charge color option priced at $495. This exterior paint choice was introduced new for the 2024 GMC Sierra and is one of two indirect replacements for other colors that were phased out by GM, including Pacific Blue Metallic (color code GA0) and Sand Dune Metallic (GTL). The other new-for-2024 paint is Thunderstorm Gray (GNO).
As a reminder, the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 has multiple powerplant choices on offer. Gasoline options include the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine (now branded as TurboMax), developing 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, and the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine generating 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque
The 2024 Sierra 1500 has one available diesel powerplant as well, the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax cranking out 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque. This engine is now equipped as the standard power source for the off-road-focused 2024 GMC Sierra AT4X. The atmospheric L87 V8 engine, previously the only AT4X powerplant, is now optional.
The 2024 Sierra 1500 uses the GM T1 platform as its underpinnings. Production is being carried out at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana and simultaneously at the GM Silao plant in Mexico.

Good job GM!
Get rid of all colors and make everything look like primer and you forgot the paint.
Just what we need to match the gloom and doom of the current national and global situation.
Did Jagoff Joe force you to do this like he forced you to make EVs nobody wants?
