2024 Corvette E-Ray Production Start Pushed Back Yet Again

Making its formal introduction this past January, the 2024 Corvette E-Ray is an important moment for the iconic sports car, debuting the very first production-spec, all-wheel-drive, hybrid-powered vehicle to wear the Chevy Corvette nameplate. Unfortunately, production of the new 2024 Corvette E-Ray has been pushed back multiple times so far, as GM Authority covered previously. Now, GM Authority has learned that 2024 Corvette E-Ray production has been pushed back yet again.

For those readers who may have missed it, the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2024 Corvette E-Ray was previously slated for Monday, October 23rd, but was later pushed back to Monday, November 27th. That day has come and gone, and now, the production start date has been pushed back yet again.

Chevy spokesperson Trevor Thompkins recently spoke with GM Authority and confirmed that production of the 2024 Corvette E-Ray is now planned to start before the end of the year.

To note, production of the 2024 Corvette Z06 began October 2nd, 2023, while production of the 2024 Corvette Stingray began September 5th, 2023.

Like all C8 Corvette variants, the E-Ray is produced exclusively at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky. The GM Bowling Green plant has served as the exclusive producer of the Chevy Corvette since 1981.

With regard to the technical specifications, the 2024 Corvette E-Ray cradles the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine behind the cabin. The LT2 is the same powerplant that motivates the C8 Corvette Stingray, but in the E-Ray, the V8 is mated to a single front-mounted electric motor and 1.9 kWh battery pack, providing a combined hybrid output of 655 horsepower. The V8 sends output to the rear wheels, while the electric motor sends output to the front wheels.

Properly motivated, the E-Ray will run from 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds, and scream through the quarter mile in 10.5 seconds. Under the skin, all C8 variants ride on the GM Y2 platform.

  • This V8 hybrid is the one thing gm has announced as of late that would excite me and they can't seem to make it. Oof.

    • There are some TPW's on some Eray's late January, early February, I agree production doesnt look like it will start till January or February.

  • Here we go again. Continued Z06 delays and now the E-Ray delayed the start of production. No reason given. It’s obvious the management of the facility at Bowling Green has serious operational planning and oversight issues. If GM was smart they would reallocate some of their EV budget and build a second Corvette production facility to meet the demand of a vehicle consumers want.
