GM debuted the next-generation 2024 Chevy Trax over a year ago as the Bow Tie’s new entry-level crossover.
On the outside, the 2024 Chevy Trax incorporates the Bow Tie brand’s latest design language for internal combustion-powered models, taking after the Chevy Blazer crossover. The all-new Trax is longer, lower, and wider than the preceding model. Up front is a set of LED headlamps, configured within a dual-level cluster. Five trim levels are on offer – LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and Activ – each including their own unique styling bits, from wheels to grille treatments.
Furthermore, the 2024 Chevy Trax offers a new Blackout Package and new roof rack cross rails.
Inside, the new 2024 Trax is roomier than the preceding model, and offers more safety features and tech, including a standard eight-inch diagonal infotainment screen on LS and 1RS trims, while higher-end LT, 2RS, and Activ trims get an 11-inch screen. Further onboard tech includes Active Noise Cancelation and cruise control, while Adaptive Cruise Control is offered on most trims.
Improvements to the 2024 Chevy Trax’s turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine help bring total output to 137 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 162 pound-feet of torque at 2,500 to 4,000 rpm. It is the same powerplant found in the Chevy Trailblazer in LS and LT trim levels. Additionally, the 2024 Trax boasts improved fuel economy over the previous-generation 2022 Chevy Trax.
Only front-wheel drive is available while the outgoing Trax offered an all-wheel-drive option. Those who would like AWD will need to move up to the aforementioned Trailblazer.
Praise for the Bow Tie brand’s subcompact crossover continues to pour in.
The 2024 Chevy Trax was one of 10 GM models among North American Car of the Year candidates, competing with six of those in the 2024 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year category.
In addition, the all-new Chevy Trax won the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. ALG Residual Value Award.
Furthermore, the next-gen Chevy Trax was named among Car and Driver 10Best Trucks and SUVs for 2024.
In case you missed it, GM Authority Executive Editor Alex Luft was also quite impressed with this legitimately good model that drives as well as it looks. He described the all-new 2024 Trax as “the Corvette of its segment,” particularly when it comes to handling prowess. Check out the video below:

Is anyone else confused by all these “new” colors that look just like the currently available colors???
It’s because they have no other story to write…. first look?! its been months!! Its like saying the sky gets a new fountain blue color…. and why break up the article into 10 different ones?? just say here are all the new colors.
Another ugly non-metallic color. What’s with the throwback paints?
Pastel colors of the 1950’s will be arriving soon at your local GM dealership! lol
Plus an Extra $395 for the color since it is not Black or White, way to go GM just gouge the buyers again.
I like this color and think it looks great on the Trax. I’d like to see the Envista get it (or maybe it did??). Anyhow, what I don’t get is why this color only comes with the two interior colors with the “RED” accents. Why not the blue accents? I get that this color is only available on the RS trim, but anyone with an eye for color coordination would give this blue exterior the blue accents inside. Even the yellow accents would go better than the red.
The type of blue is trendy right now, but once people notice it looks like “baby blue” the appeal will drop off and it will fall out of favor quickly.
Mark: On my Bolt, I have that lighter blue color (like a powder blue) and I love it. After one year of having it, I still find it very attractive and I get a lot of compliments on the color. What I like most is that it’s lighter and thus stays cooler in the heat and it doesn’t show the dust/dirt as much. My last car (Malibu) was the crystal red and I loved it, but it was nearly as difficult to keep looking clean as black.
It’s always a good idea to go see in person, sometimes pictures on the internet doesn’t do justice.
Color compliments body styling.
As the saying goes, can’t please everyone I guess. First you hear folks complaining about not having enough color options, then when they put new colors options out, folks complain about the new color. Lol. I’ve seen this color on a vehicle and even though it’s not one I’d choose for myself it looked pretty good.
Love it! I like to be more visible when i drive 🙂
I see this car all over the place now. GM has a clear winner with this new vehicle and I hope the Envista does the same for the Buick brand. For once, they listened to what customers wanted and even though its a “CUV” and not a sedan, its an affordable one with lots of good features, adequate space, and a good price. I’m liking it as a potential replacement to our aging Rav4.
im confused on the new 2024 chevy trax it says that they are front wheel drive only .but the confused is that the out going trax was all wheel drive i thought that they were all front wheel drive only .
The redesigned 2024 is front wheel drive only. Prior to the redesign, all wheel drive was available.
thank you on your reply about the trax having all wheel drive i wish you could tell that bunch of know it all.s that called me a liar and i never semitted anything before about them .
I saw (2) new Trax vehicles fresh off the transport truck last weekend at my local Chevy dealer…a 1RS and a 2RS, both in the new Fountain Blue non-metallic paint. My reaction was this color is God awful ugly, and if you are a fan of purple/violet vehicles, then you will love this color!
A great girl color, powder blue.
Well, at least they will be easier to repair, just about anyone can spray basic non-metallic paint.
