GM debuted the next-generation 2024 Chevy Trax over a year ago as the Bow Tie’s new entry-level crossover.

On the outside, the 2024 Chevy Trax incorporates the Bow Tie brand’s latest design language for internal combustion-powered models, taking after the Chevy Blazer crossover. The all-new Trax is longer, lower, and wider than the preceding model. Up front is a set of LED headlamps, configured within a dual-level cluster. Five trim levels are on offer – LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and Activ – each including their own unique styling bits, from wheels to grille treatments.

Furthermore, the 2024 Chevy Trax offers a new Blackout Package and new roof rack cross rails.

Inside, the new 2024 Trax is roomier than the preceding model, and offers more safety features and tech, including a standard eight-inch diagonal infotainment screen on LS and 1RS trims, while higher-end LT, 2RS, and Activ trims get an 11-inch screen. Further onboard tech includes Active Noise Cancelation and cruise control, while Adaptive Cruise Control is offered on most trims.

Improvements to the 2024 Chevy Trax’s turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine help bring total output to 137 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 162 pound-feet of torque at 2,500 to 4,000 rpm. It is the same powerplant found in the Chevy Trailblazer in LS and LT trim levels. Additionally, the 2024 Trax boasts improved fuel economy over the previous-generation 2022 Chevy Trax.

Only front-wheel drive is available while the outgoing Trax offered an all-wheel-drive option. Those who would like AWD will need to move up to the aforementioned Trailblazer.

Praise for the Bow Tie brand’s subcompact crossover continues to pour in.

The 2024 Chevy Trax was one of 10 GM models among North American Car of the Year candidates, competing with six of those in the 2024 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year category.

In addition, the all-new Chevy Trax won the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. ALG Residual Value Award.

Furthermore, the next-gen Chevy Trax was named among Car and Driver 10Best Trucks and SUVs for 2024.

In case you missed it, GM Authority Executive Editor Alex Luft was also quite impressed with this legitimately good model that drives as well as it looks. He described the all-new 2024 Trax as “the Corvette of its segment,” particularly when it comes to handling prowess. Check out the video below:

  1. The Jet Black with Artemis Accents interior is the color I got. Just to let ppl know, it is dark green, medium greenish gray, and black, with neon yellow piping. It goes outstandingly well with the Cacti Green exterior.

    1. 2024 Cacti Green? Then what is the name of the green offered on the 2023 Trax?

      1. Well there was no green color offered on the old bodystyle Trax.

  2. In 1969 Chevy called that Frost Green. Dad had a 69 Bel Air that was Frost Green.

  3. I ordered a sterling gray Trax for a customer and a cacti green Trax for stock. They both arrived at the same time. My customer ditched the sterling gray and left with the cacti green. Personally, I think it would look good on a Silverado as well.

  4. Why does GM hate the color green so much? With so many shades of every color why have they decided to use all the pastel colors and then so faint as to be closer to gray or white. Pick a color and show it!!!

    1. gm like all the manufacturers buy paint. The paint industry does surveys of what is the next thing and manufacturers usually just buy the next trend. I’ve seen a toyota I think it was with this almost exact color. The trend at the moment is pastels.

  5. To me it looks like seafoam green maybe even a little darker shade of my ’71 Toronado ‘s silver mint. Maybe with some metallic it would look better.

    1. Thanks for pointing that out, I didn’t realize it wasn’t a metallic color. Never mind, non-metallic paint on cars is very boring, especially the battleship gray, it looks like glossy primer. I’ll pass.

  6. IMHO it’s nice to see GM paint something different. Love the green. White, black, red, grey are getting pretty boring.

  7. The Trax is a winner for GM. Great combination of pricing, design, engineering and features. This green also looks great on the Vette IMO.

  8. Cheap sells. Or is it value?

    Reply
    1. If you don’t get anything of quality for the money, it’s cheap. If you get what you need at a reasonable price, it’s a value. There is an element of subjectivity I suppose.

  9. That green looks like something Subaru would have

  10. Wow 10 exterior color choices no drivetrain options all show and no go, but that’s what people are attracted to.

  11. As much as I rag on GM Corporate for their overall incompetence; I look at this Trax and it’s Buick variant and believe this will be a very, very strong seller for them. Great package at a great-for-2023 cost of entry. I love the aggressive Camaro front styling on the Chevy, yet also drawn to the Buick for it’s completely different, yet equally aggressive front end. If there could be any regrets, it’d be a lack of AWD. Kinda wonder if the 3 cylinder puts a stop to an all wheel drive platform.

    1. Well the Trailblazer and Encore GX use the 1.3L BIG BLOCK version of the 3-cylinder, and they have AWD available.

  12. Back in the 50’s GM was the leader in paint colors and combinations. There was something like 300 colors in the inventory. Gm now has all boring colors IMO. In the 20 + years i have leased from Chevy i never really got a color i truly liked. It was always oh well, maybe next time. The nicest color was the champagne. I settled for a burgundy instead of a real red, a patriot blue instead of a really nice blue. The deals bs’s me and says the bright colors aren’t NY colors. Sure, and that’s why Nissan, Subaru and Toyota had nice copper, reds and bright blues. If you offer , it will sell.

  13. In the late 1990’s a similar color was nicknamed “Goose Manure” green because the color was so similar to the byproduct of the goose.

  15. The last several vehicles I have bought from GM, have had no variety of colors. This color interests me, but driving an I3 won’t work for me. I do highway driving, I like to have at least a V6. As was already stated by Midnight Rider, offer this color on a Silverado.
