2024 Chevy Traverse To Offer Heated Windshield Wipers: Feature Spotlight

For the 2024 model year, the Chevy Traverse bisects into two distinct paths; a carryover Traverse Limited and the all-new, next-gen Traverse. For the latter, the new generation brings along all the expected updates and changes associated with an overhaul, including a wealth of new features like Super Cruise. One of the new features of the third-generation 2024 Chevy Traverse that hasn’t been brought to light just yet is a set of heated windshield wipers.

Tagged with RPO code CMO, the heated wipers are standard only on the RS trim level, and is not available on any other 2024 Traverse trim. It’s worth noting that the 2024 Traverse RS also includes another key windshield wiper feature – Rainsense wipers (windshield wipers that can turn on automatically after “sensing” rain) – as standard fare.

In regard to how the heated wipers work, there’s a defroster at the base of the windshield that heats up the wipers while they are in the “parked” position.

Something worth noting is that while the RS model is the range-topping trim level for the 2024 model year, the 2025 Traverse is expected to introduce a higher-end trim in the form of Premier – something GM Authority was first to tell you about earlier this year. Interestingly, the RS is actually based on the upcoming Premier, so the inclusion of a high-end feature such as heated wipers makes sense.

As a reminder, the next-gen 2024 Traverse boasts an all-new exterior look with Chevy’s “High Brow” design theme, along with a more truck-like front fascia with dual-tier headlights. Additional design elements include forward-leaning C-pillars and bright chrome quad exhaust tips.

Moving to the interior, the cabin is highlighted by the 17.7-inch diagonal color infotainment touchscreen, which is equipped as standard affair across the entire lineup. The new cockpit also features a redesigned steering wheel, as well as more interior space overall, improved ergonomics, new colorways, and higher-quality materials.

In regard to output, the 2024 Traverse is powered by the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine, which produces a GM-rated 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. The GM eight-speed automatic transmission is the sole transmission option. Front-wheel-drive (FWD) is equipped as standard, while all-wheel-drive (AWD) is optional on all trims except for Z71, which gets AWD as standard.

Under the body panels, the all-new Traverse rides on an updated variant of the long-wheelbase version of the GM C1 platform, which now incorporates features like the Global B digital architecture. Production will take place at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.

  1. I had heated wipers on my 2012 Kia Optima so what’s the deal here?

  3. My 2007 Yukon Denali had heated washer fluid. Worked really well. GM dealer tried to disconnect it due to recall. I refused to let them. In my
opinion this is a better option than heater wipers. Poor design of a printed circuit board (pcb) posed a fire risk. Easy to redesign and make safe. No reason for abandoning the use of heated fluid which they did on subsequent years. If needed, let’s get Keurig to design a system. With millions of K-Cup coffee makers produced they know how to safely heat water.

    1. I agree with heated washer fluid but that doesn’t replace the heated wipers to melt the ice/snow buildup on the wiper blades.

    2. The hot washer fluid would actually melt snow and ice from the wiper itself as you cleared the glass.

  4. On a bev commenters say the world is coming to an end since the Bev Lyriq has heated wiper area, but if you do the same thing on a gas powered vehicle it’s okay, although the big expense and wringing of hands on the Lyriq costs about half as much to run as the excess gasoline used to drive the engine driven alternator here.
