2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST In Slate Gray Metallic: First Real-World Photos

The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV got its big reveal in 2022 at the Consumer Electronics Show, with three trim levels unveiled – the Chevy Silverado EV RST, the Silverado WT and the fortocoming Silverado EV Trail Boss. We’ve seen the Chevy Silverado EV RST in a few different colors in the past, but now, we’re checking it out in Slate Gray Metallic (paint code GNO) thanks to the following first real-world photos.

This particular example was spotted on display during the recent 2024 Chevy Blazer EV media drive in San Diego, giving us a clean look at the pickup’s design and how it works with the Slate Gray Metallic paint option.

First things first, the front end of this 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST presents the latest fascia design, as was initially revealed this past November. Compared to the original fascia design unveiled in 2022, the updated look includes broader air intakes and a single black finish for the lower fascia section, as well as a taller, broader lower intake section.

The upper portion of the fascia looks to be similar to the original design with a single horizontal lighting signature that stretches below the hood line, as well as forward-facing lights mounted in the sides of the fascia. There’s also an RST badge in the upper right-hand corner of the fascia, while the black Chevy Bow Tie badge presents a polished surround.

Moving into the sides, we see this 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST riding on a set of two-tone wheels with a silver and black finish laid out in a multi-spoke, geometric design. The wheels are wrapped in Michelin tires, while black trim around the windows and along the sail panel create a floating roof design for the profile. There’s also a set of side steps, while the Silverado EV badging is seen in the lower corner of the front door.

The rear end shows off a black bumper with corner steps and a black Chevy Bow Tie badge. The taillight housings also incorporate black inner graphics, making the splashes of red pop nicely.

As a reminder, all Chevy Silverado EV variants are equipped with GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motors, while the GM BT1 platform provides the bones. Production takes place at the GM Factory Zero plant. To note, GM has delayed the launch of the Chevy Silverado EV.

  5. I hate the Avalanche slope look. Give me a version with a traditional pickup look. I already have a Bolt EUV and a non-GM PHEV, love both – the Bolt commutes 140 miles per day 5 days a week – zero issues, charges in the garage every night. I have also driven it 240 of its 265 mile stated range – electric is here for many folks. PHEV is a great solution for others – 90% of my miles on this (BMW) are electric and 10% gas. We still will always need gas vehicles for some folks but PHEV (plug in hybrid) is the best of both worlds.
    GM needs a PHEV pickup truck !!!

  6. all should design a lower flatter truck as was used in the 60’s 70″s ..I ,for one am tired of the huge excess looking trucks of today..make me a lower riding just enough metal to encompass the cab or ext cab along with a 6ft bed.

  7. I am looking forward to purchasing one of these EV trucks and I come to this site every time a new tidbit on the EV Silverado is mentioned. What the heck are these comments from people who clearly do not want this vehicle showing up here? They never wanted one so why do they keep coming here to whine? Reminds me of how many Corvette “Purists” proclaimed loudly how GM was destroying the brand by removing the “signature” pop up lights. Old news, I know, but it seems that every great product that GM puts out is nipped at by know it all “purist” jackals.

  10. How about including something meaniful in the article like the estimated range? Or how long it will take to charge. Will it take 3 or 4 days to charge like the F150 Lightning? Will it get 100 miles range while towing? There’s nothing like a dose of reality to burst the EV bubble.

  11. Not clear if a large volume of buyers is currently awaiting a 100% GM plug in “Evalanche” (Great name ocnblu!) EV.

    I’m not against EV’s (I’m a Bow Tie person) I’m just not sure where this EV is going. I personally wouldn’t spend the money required for this EV as a functional truck configuration or in this color.

    The Silverado truck business is traditionally towing, working, functioning and outdoor recreation segments. A real truck bed w/ an isolated cab is the tried and true time honored configuration. Aftermarket (campers/ bed attachments, etc.) design to the isolated truck bed (w/ a few exceptions). Maybe a Chevrolet isolated bed EV truck will come later.

    Only the GM truck color decision committee would drop the 4th most popular worldwide vehicle color (bright silver metallic in ‘22) with now 3 different shades of gray.

    EV short distance traveling makes real sense for the right user. That said w/o the proposed nationwide infrastructure fully in place, the current amount of time and resulting delay to recharge, and EV long distance travel doesn’t pass the sanity check. At least not yet.

    I have to believe GM is seriously reevaluating/ replanning the initial overly optimistic annual Silverado EV production numbers. Or should I say US Gov’t EV quantity “Desirements” (baiting) to more realistic or sanity checked figures.

  12. It is what it is. Between this and the Hummer EV I like the idea and concept, in that they aren’t trying to replace a Silverado with it. They could’ve called it something other then a Silverado, becuase it isn’t one…it’s an update Avalanche (and owning an Avalanche previous and currently owning a EXT, the split midgate is something I wish GM engineered 15-20 years ago)

    But, GM and Ford have to play along with the EV game, and even though margins are high on these, the bread and butter profit is still in ICE trucks and will be for a decade…fleet trucks, trucks that can tow, W/T trim trucks etc. GM figures by the time they have to stop selling ICE trucks, battery tech and all the other real world legit issues with EVs and trucks, will be solved. Not sure if they believe it either but in the meantime they have to keep up appearances in the EV game.

    1. 400+ miles of range which is amazing. But unless you can charge at home or work it will remain impractical. And $100k for the first editions is ridiculous. Wish GM had created a Maverick sized, $50k, 300 mile range truck.

  14. Wheel wells are really aero, going to catch a lot of air going down the highway. These ev tires look horrible, do u have to buy new rims every time u hit a pot hole. I don’t understand low profile tires on a truck that will be used as a truck.

  15. Looks more like an Avalanche than a Silverado. The front end looks like it was in an avalanche.. I’d get a Rivian or F-150 lightening first, just so I didn’t have to walk into my garage and see that looking at me. Honestly though, EV trucks are trying way too hard to look “futuristic” while keeping the same body language as the gas brother. Even the new RAM EV truck is kinda ugly. Rivian made their own style and Ford basically electrified an F-150.
