Though the truck’s mid-cycle refresh arrived in 2022, the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 – the sixth model year of the fourth-gen pickup – got several significant updates relative to the 2023 model year. Two colors were removed and two others were added to its palette of eleven exterior paint choices, while its powerplant options were also updated.
However, one of the two new paint colors is no longer available as of November 2023 production for the RST trim level of the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500.
The Lakeshore Blue Metallic (color code GXP) color can no longer be chosen on the 2024 Silverado’s RST trim. Customers can still select this paint choice for the WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, LT Trail Boss, ZR2, LTZ, and High Country trims. This is the entire trim lineup except for the RST.
Lakeshore Blue Metallic is offered as a no-charge option on the 2024 Chevy Silverado. GM dropped two paint colors from the 2024 exterior paints, specifically Northsky Blue Metallic (color code GA0) and Sand Dune Metallic (GTL). New to the model for 2024, Lakeshore Blue is one of the two indirect replacement colors, the other being Slate Grey Metallic (GNO).
Other changes to the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 include the addition of the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine to the Chevy Silverado ZR2 powertrain lineup. This diesel engine develops 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque and is mated to the GM 10-speed automatic transmission. The ZR2 was previously offered only with the atmospheric 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine cranking out 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
Other Chevy Silverado 1500 powerplants include the atmospheric 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine providing 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. The turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, has been rebranded with the TurboMax name, as GM Authority previously reported.
Under the body panels, the 2024 Silverado 1500 is supported by the GM T1 platform. Production is currently under way at three locations, including the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, the GM Oshawa plant in Canada, and the GM Silao plant in Mexico.

Wonderful. This _was_ the trim and color I’ve been selecting when using the 2024 Build and Price tool. Now the color is no longer available to select, but ironically, the color assigned to the RST trim when selecting the Trim Level to configure.
GM, if you going to take the color away from the Trim, don’t advertise the Trim in that color.
Someone over at GM doesn’t like the color BLUE. It’s not the first tint of blue that’s been discontinued. My 2019 Silverado is “North Sky Blue Metallic”; another one that recently got axed (for some unknown reason). Not sure GM is listening to what their “customers” want.
any one have any ideas as to why just the RST trim level? Does someone at GM think it does not go well with black wheels?
Nothing goes well with ugly black wheels.
