2024 Cadillac XT5: Everything That’s New & Different

The 2024 Cadillac XT5 represents the eighth model model year of the crossover SUV, which made its debut 2017 model year. The eighth model year brings about some small changes, and GM Authority is here to tell you exactly what’s new and different.

Model Line

The 2024 XT5 does not see any changes to the model line, meaning that it continues to be offered as a compact crossover SUV in either front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive across the following trim levels:

  • Luxury
  • Premium Luxury
  • Sport

Exterior

On the outside, the 2024 Cadillac XT5 sees the deletion of three exterior colors, and the addition of two new ones.

Deleted colors

  • Latte Metallic (G5D)
  • Rosewood Metallic (GCK)
  • Wilder Metallic (GED)

New colors

  • Emerald Lake Metallic (G6I)
  • Midnight Sky Metallic (GXF)

The last changes to the exterior is a new set of wheels in the form of the 20-inch, 6-split spoke alloy wheels with Polished/Android finish (Q6R). This set replaces the 18-inch 6-split spoke alloy wheels (Q6Y) as standard equipment on the Premium Luxury trim.

Interior

No changes are made to the interior of the 2024 Cadillac XT5. The model continues to be offered as a four-door crossover SUV with a hatch, with two rows of seating for a maximum of five occupants.

Mechanical

Similarly, no changes are in store to the mechanical story of the 2024 XT5, which continues to be offered with a choice of two gasoline engines.

2024 Cadillac XT5 Engines, Transmissions, Axles
Engine Fuel Aspiration Transmission Drivetrain Power (hp / kW @ RPM) Torque (lb-ft / Nm @ RPM) Axle
2.0L I-4 LSY Gasoline Turbo 9-Speed auto (M3G) FWD or AWD 235 / 175 @ 5000 258 / 350 @ 1500 – 4000 3.47
3.6L V6 LGX Gasoline Atmospheric 9-Speed auto (M3W) FWD or AWD 310 / 231 @ 6600 271 / 366 @ 5000 3.49

Safety / Security / ADAS

No changes are made to the utility vehicle’s safety, security or driver assist tech.

Packages

Finally, the 2024 Cadillac XT5 gets three new appearance packages – aptly titled Blue Accent Package, Bronze Accent Package, and Red Accent Package.

Ironically, all three of these packages are not available to order, as reported by GM Authority just last week.

The updates and changes described here are specific to the U.S. market and may be different for other markets.

Looking Ahead

The few changes in store for the 2024 model year follow the 2017 Cadillac XT5, which was all-new to replace the Cadillac SRX. The 2020 Cadillac XT5 introduced a mid-cycle refresh, while small changes were made to the 2021 XT5, 2022 XT5 and 2023 XT5.

The future of the XT5 in North America is currently hazy at best. Our own intel suggests that the nameplate was to be sunset in all markets except for China after the current model reaches the end of its lifecycle in 2024. GM is, however, working on a next-generation XT5 for the Chinese market. Though the automaker is currently examining a business opportunity to bring the next-gen XT5 stateside, we’re not aware of any concrete plans to actually do so. Hence, the 2024 model year might very much be the XT5’s last in this market.

  1. Unfortunately, if they actually do it, it’s going to be a half-hearted effort. I would love to see the flowing features:

    Latest super cruise
    V6 engine
Pause live radio (not just XM)
Wireless Android Auto / Apple Carplay
    Fuel door on driver’s side
    Bright metallic silver paint option
Security feature similar to Tesla’s Sentry
Cadillac logo puddle lights as standard for all models

Of course, all of this is already in the parts bin at GM, but I expect they won’t be in a 2025 XT5.

  2. It’s too bad that the XT5 has been allowed to wither. It’s profile is among the best in its class. But the interior has been one of GM’s typical low-rent efforts. Too bad they haven’t updated it like in the new XT4. I suspect they’re hoping to move XT5 buyers into the electric Optiq. Which is another tone-deaf move by GM. It’s time they start releasing some hybrids and plug-in hybrids.

    1. I agree with Desert Native. A full electric vehicle will never replace the XT5!! GM needs to offer vehicles that people want to buy — not all electric stuff that does not sell. As a long time Cadillac buyer I may need to look at Lexus for my nest ride. Please rethink your plan to kill the XT5 before it is too late. Thanks

  3. As the last Cadillac salesman told me: I can’t even get customers to even look at the Lyric. The disdain for EV’s is borderline hatred. Let the market decide if it wants EV’s, not the government.

    1. If the Lyric had a gas engine, even a plug in hybrid, it sell like hot cakes. It has a beautiful design that out class most other SUV’s

  5. This what you get when you choose a CEO with a HR background vs engineering, marketing, finance, etc.

    1. Check out wikipedia or other such sources. She started as an engineer at GM

There, the future GM CEO Mary Barra studied towards a Bachelor of Science degree, specializing in electrical engineering. She also became a member of the engineering society on campus, Tau Beta Pi.

  6. It’s a shame that they have not been able to get the technical defects in the XT5 correct! I park my car in the garage and usually leave the keys inside..what happens..well I go back out to retrieve items and my car has locked me out with the keys inside! I’ve had maintenance out here 3 times because my car wouldn’t start..replace battery and 2 weeks later I go out to drive it and car is dead. This keeps happening in my 2021 XT5. What am I suppose to do! This is a Cadillac!!!

    1. Don’t leave your key fob in the car.

      1. Hang that key on a hook near the door to the garage. Don’t know what’s up with the battery.

    2. That is a setting in your infotainment system. You can turn it off, speak to your salesperson at the dealership if you aren’t able to do it yourself.

  7. Just got my third XT5, a 2024. Before that, I had the ELR hybrid. If Cadillac does not continue the XT5 with an ICE or hybrid engine, when my lease is up in 3 years, I will not be getting any more Cadillacs.

GM’s all EV road map is a certain path to bankruptcy.

  8. I’ve been leaving my keys in the car every since I’ve owned Cadillacs ..this has never happened before..and car not starting 3 times when going out is a no! No!

  9. I ve been told that leaving the key fob in the car will drain the battery as it has happened to me.Since taking the fob out of the car no more battery problems.CEO Mary has got to go before she sinks GM.She’s in bed with Biden administration who is destroying the country and she jumped on the band wagon. The XT5 is great vehicle and would be a very bad move to discontinue it.

  11. How does the Turbo 4 compare with the V6? The last 3.6 I drove (in a 2010 STS) had so little low end torque, you had to wait for a downshift to do anything, because the transmission put it at 1200 rpm if you took your foot off the gas for a second. Seems like the turbo would be better for everyday driving, maybe not when passing at 65.

    1. I believe you are correct regarding the turbo 4 vs the 6 cyl. The turbo will be making more torque and probably not much less horsepower at engine speeds you will be using most of the time. If you kick the 6 cyl. in the tail and go hard it should give you better performance that the 4. I’m a little surprised that they didn’t use a higher hp version of the 4 cylinder. Perhaps gas mileage is the only real goal for the 4.

    2. Ralph, I think a 2.0L turbo is TOO SMALL OF AN ENGING FOR AN XT5. It just won’t do it.
I had an XT4 that had the 2.0 turbo. Was OK on take off, but lost it as you went. And the XT4 is a lot lighter vehicle than an XT5. I vote no on the 4 cyl. for the XT5.
Cadillac just needs to change the gearing in the tranny for the V6▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎
I never drove a XT5, so I can’t give you an wxpert vision, just my thoughts….
By the way an STS is a totally different animal than the XT5 AND YOURETALKING 14 MODEL YEARS AS GO!!!!
