Tesla is now ramping up deliveries of the all-electric Tesla Cybertruck, the EV company’s first pickup model. The Tesla Cybertruck rivals the Chevy Silverado EV in the all-electric pickup segment. Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck in November of 2019, and deliveries have been delayed for years.
Now, however, Tesla is celebrating the first deliveries of the highly anticipated Cybertruck with a delivery event at Tesla headquarters in Austin, Texas. Although the automaker has millions of reservations for its new all-electric pickup, it’s estimated that between 10 and 50 units were delivered during the event.
The event also provided a rundown on the vehicle specs and performance highlights. The range-topping model, called the “Cyberbeast”, features an estimated range-per-charge of 320 miles, which rises to more than 440 miles with the Range Extender equipped. Tesla declined to provide information on what this Range Extender actually is, but if we were to guess, we’d say that it’s an extra battery of sorts, rather than any kind of internal combustion engine.
The Cyberbeast can accelerate to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 130 mph, with all-wheel grip, 20-inch wheels, and 120.9 cubic feet of cargo space. The Cyberbeast also boasts more than 17 inches of ground clearance in Extract Mode, while seating five in the cabin. Towing is set at 11,000 pounds.
Meanwhile, the All-Wheel Drive Model offers 340 miles of range (more than 470 miles with the Range Extender), a sprint to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, a top speed of 112 mph, and 11,000 pounds of towing. The entry-level Rear-Wheel Drive model has 250 miles of range, a run to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, a top speed of 112 mph, and a max towing of 7,500 pounds. Tesla’s website states that the Rear-Wheel Drive model will be available in 2025.

This is bad news for FORD and GM’s EV truck dreams as Tesla buyers won’t have to deal with ADM.
Let see what it does when towing. Bet its no better than the Ford Lightning. I don’t believe the range either unless this has one big battery.
The range will take a hit while towing, but I bet Tesla is better than all of the rest. It will easily beat Ford. Their thermal management is better than all of the OEMs. Go watch Hagerty’s video on CyberTruck. It ran consistent 1/4 mile times until the battery got below 30%, even then the drop off was only minimal.
Ah, so thats what people buy trucks for…..quarter mile times.
No mention of what happened to the $39,000 base price?
They didn’t tow anything in the video, but the consecutive quarter mile runs shows that Tesla knows how to do thermal management. The other OEMs see significant degradation of performance after just a few runs. The lightning’s towing woes are well documented.
The 39K price went the same way as the starting price for Silverado EV. Inflation happened.
Thats some mighty inflation….
I’m all for EV but the heavy truck will burn through tires very quickly. Like every 15,000 miles. I guess this is the new Hummer
How much does it cost?
The prices range from a lot ($61k) to a lot more, like any EV truck.
I’m not sure it’s a direct competitor to Ford and GM EV trucks. Its radical design probably only appeals to Tesla fanboys. I don’t see a lot of commercial businesses adding that to their fleets. Except maybe in CA given the amount of nuts out there.
Another “Status Symbol” vehicle.
Something for Mom to take the brats to the market in & stop at McD’s on the way home!
We may be nutty here in CA, but we are having a great time at it!
Regardless of what people think of its polarizing looks, this will outsell all other EV trucks combined in 2024 while they begin ramping. There is a lot of expensive tech in this truck with steer by wire, 48v/800v architecture, 4 wheel steering, 30kW power share feature, stainless steel and range extender battery pack(s). No other trucks have specs even close to this. And it weighs 1 ton less than the Silverado EV.
This is more of hummer competitor. Final pricing remains unseen. However the Rivian truck is over 400 miles. Albeit a little more expensive. And in my eyes more practical and better looking
Pricing is on the tesla web site. I agree it’s also a hummer competitor, but the top end Silverado is over 110k which would make the top end tesla 14k cheaper
Whats the “range extender” ?
Does it have an engine?
It’s another battery.
Ah, nice…..an extra fire source.
Range Extender is a 75 kWh battery pack that sits in the bed of the truck
Tow behind diesel generator?
Search Hagerty and Cybertruck if you want more details from a guy who hated this thing before testing the tri motor Cyberbeast.
This thing is so ugly it will have to sneak up on a charging station to get a drink.
It’s so ugly it makes the Celestiq look good.
I can’t believe I even wrote that.
Nice can’t wait to see one in the wild
That thing is so butt ugly, it makes the Pontiac Aztec look good!
I think the Prius is a smaller version of the much maligned Aztec. The Buick and Chevrolet and Olds versions of the body style looked fine And they are still available on the used vehicle marketplace. Haters Will always be haters.

Coming soon to a road ditch near you!
May be quick but it’s still a truck. How well does it corner, and how good are the brakes?
Tesla are some of the least Reliable,Musk is off his rocker.
Do you have a Tesla and if so what’s wrong with it? I’m curious and patiently awaiting your response!
