Peak Suspension Show Off Custom 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X At L.A. Auto Show

The 2023 LA Auto Show is underway now, with automakers filling the Los Angeles Convention Center with their latest models and debuts. The off-road specialists from Peak Suspension are on hand as well, showing off this custom 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X. Now, we’re taking a closer look with the following photos and specs.

Naturally, this 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X is decked out with a long list of Peak Suspension upgrades, including the company’s two-inch collar lift kit and a one-inch rear lift block kit. Peak Suspension also installed its diff drop kit, tie rod sleeves, skid spacers, and sway bar relocation kit, while Timbren active rear bump stops round out the suspension spec.

Further accessories to enhance the outdoor experience include a Roam Adventure Co. Desperado roof tent and Roam Adventure Co. Arc 270 awning, plus a Prinsu roof rack, MaxTrax mount, and tent feet. MaxTrax recovery boards are also included, just in case, and Peak Suspension added its on-board air accessory kit, which includes an ARB dual compressor.

Extra lighting is provided by an array of KC products, including KC HiLites Flex Era 3 Ditch Lights and KC Gravity Pro6 Titan lights, with an sPOD BantamX lightning controller onboard as well. The whole thing rides on 35-inch by 12.5-inch Falken Wildpeak RT tires, while the AEV wheels were painted Summit White to match the body. Final touches out back include a Magnaflow Overland Series cat-back exhaust and a Factor55 Hitchlink 2.0. There’s also a nice custom wrap showing off the Peak Suspension logo, which extends to the KC light covers.

As a reminder, the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X is equipped as standard with the High Output turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. The four-cylinder mates with the updated version of the GM eight-speed automatic transmission and, of course, four-wheel drive. The updated 31XX-2 platform provides the bones.

      1. OH My. GM missed the boat again, in this version of their mid-sized trucks. No Reg. cabs, and no V8’s. This sreies of trucks would be killler, if both those options ver ready to go. GM is just not getting it.

  2. I’m in a hunting blind with a Remington 700SPS Tactical with a Timney trigger and an ACC suppressor tossing 300 BLK 260 grain subs. Passed on a 4 pt and a 3 pt just 30 minutes or so ago. A quarter mile east of me is my 2020 ZR2 Colorado that will crawl me out of the slop created by the rain from last night.

But your cold read caught me. I’m a clueless poser. I feel blessed to have you explain things to me, dear Bob.

  3. Quite a range limited Gucci gun for deer hunting with subs. I would just use my trusty TC Omega – no suppressor, no Timney, no tacticool anything, and park slightly farther away so I didn’t have to spend 2 hours cleaning all kinds of mud slop off and from the under side of my truck in addition to hanging/processing a deer.

The real story is GM is missing the boat by not focusing on reliability and simplicity. GMT-800 is their pinnacle of reliability and it has been downhill every generation after that. They struggle with transmission and displacement on demand woes in addition to other problems. The ZR2 Colorado will be dead way before a comparably treated Tacoma. The market is tired of tumultuous reliability given modern vehicle prices. I’ll take a 2006 era 4.3L with a manual shift transfer case over any 2.7 or 3.6 push button time bomb.
