Aftermarket performance exhaust specialist MBRP is launching a new line of 3-inch cat-back exhaust upgrades for the 2023 Chevy Colorado and 2023 GMC Canyon. MBRP claims that the new exhaust provides a substantial increase in exhaust gas flow, while the sound profile is more aggressive than stock, without being obnoxious on longer drives. Both stainless steel and aluminized steel versions are offered.
The new MBRP exhaust system for the 2023 Chevy Colorado and 2023 GMC Canyon includes a single side-exit exhaust tip that mounts underneath the rear bumper. The noise level coincides with the company’s “Street Profile,” while the cat-back design is a direct bolt-on installation. MBRP did not provide estimated power and torque gains, but did indicate a 69-percent increase to exhaust gas flow compared to stock.
Two series are offered, including Armor Lite, which is made from aluminized steel and includes a three-year warranty, “Good” durability, and is designed for dry conditions. Pricing for the Armor Lite series is set at $504.69. Meanwhile, MBRP is also offering the Armor Pro series, which is made from T304 stainless steel and includes a lifetime warranty, designed to offer the “Best” durability that can handle “Extreme” conditions. Pricing for the Armor Pro series is set at $823.99.

As a reminder, the 2023 Chevy Colorado and 2023 GMC Canyon debut the latest third generation for both pickup nameplates. The 2023 Chevy Colorado offers three engine options, including the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine, the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B Turbo Plus gasoline engine, and the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B Turbo High-Output gasoline engine. The turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B Turbo Plus engine option was deleted for the 2024 model year. Meanwhile, all third-generation GMC Canyon models are equipped as standard with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B Turbo High-Output gasoline engine.
Both pickups ride on the updated GM 31XX-2 platform, while production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

Sounds like crap! If it doesn’t increase HP/TQ, then its not worth the money!
For the pin head I’ll take a flat head Ford anyday open exhaust.
Horrible would never buy that exhaust
Is that a whistle I hear?
Whistle is turbo
Borla!!!
These pop up ads every 20 seconds are getting very annoying, why is this happening now?
wow, that’s bad. This is when you try to hide the fact that your truck sounds like a corolla.
Yeah u might as well get the Ev edition. So a flow master wouldn’t help make it sound meaner??
Can’t imagine anyone who’d want to show off the 4-cylinder in their… truck.
Ok this has to tell you that there is a serious IQ problem at GM
Can’t get behind a truck that sounds like a Honda coming down unless I can recline all the way back with a screen down low so I can see where I’m driving😅
I think it sounds alright. I really like the L3B in my ZR2, solid little engine, feels a lot stronger than the V6 I had in my ’17 ZR2. All the goofballs in here crying about the 4 cylinder sound lmfao.
I have a friend who owns a speed shop that let me have one for my ’23 Canyon Denali at cost. He has installed other MBRP exhausts in full size trucks and high performance cars, etc. We tried the Armor Pro Series T304 Stainless 3″ CAT-BACK. The video they have here does not do actual justice to the sound of the system. After first watching the video, I wasn’t expecting much more than what the stock exhaust offered. But I was wrong. The sound is a mid to deep throaty sound, but much louder than I expected. It’s not exactly as quiet in the cab as I actually wanted. At first, I was thinking extra insulation to compensate. But the loudness does mellow out once you back off the throttle to a steady rpm or speed. I had to turn up the radio volume more when accelerating at freeway speeds. In and around town, the noise level is acceptable but louder at startup and when you punch it as you might expect. I have only had it on for 4 days, so I am still getting used to it.
The speed shop guys are really interested in the claimed improved characteristics of the system. Sorry I don’t have more yet. The Armour Pro system comes with a lifetime warranty. But it does require certain information when you register on their website, like the retailer you purchased from, the part & lot number and the full name of the installer.
Bottom line, is it worth the money; The jury is still out. The truck is a 4 banger, so JMO, it’s a little harder to find the right tweak. Not like my 2017 5.7L Tundra where I just threw on a Flowmaster and it came out perfect. I was going to try the new Magnaflow system out first. I called the manufacturer and they said they had some customer complaints about being too loud. So after going through some details, I decided to try the MBRP system first. Borla is coming out with their system soon that claims it’s a no droning exhaust.
Agree Carl. Pop up every 15-20 seconds is getting old quick.
If it isn’t Dual Exhaust and increases Horse Power why would you spend the money!
